The Plantronics Blackwire 720 ($149.95 direct) is a deluxe wired stereo headset for use with VoIP clients that doubles as a Bluetooth headset for cell phones. It's a good choice for outfitting desk-bound employees in a call center-one of Plantronics' original target markets, incidentally, before the...
Very comfortable; Stellar sound quality for voice calls; Separate PC and cell phone call answer buttons
Slightly thin-sounding transmissions through the microphone; Can only detach half of the wire when using as a Bluetooth headset
I ordered the M version of the Blackwire because I do a lot of Skype (which is now a Microsoft product...). The difference between that version and non-M isn't clearly explained in Plantronics documentation. Anyway, was recognized properly on a PC, but not a Mac.
Great headset. Auto answer and connect is great, clear audio and accurate microphone.
This headset does not provide sidetone for Apple products (Mac and iPhone). Sidetone is the effect of the sound picked up by the microphone being instantly introduced at a low level into the headphones.
I have a bad shoulder. Lengthy cell calls can be cheap but painful. Another problem with regular Bluetooth devices was the people would have a problem hearing me. The C720 Headset eliminates these problems.
I am not sure if the item was new or used. However, I had multiple complaints from customers that they could not hear me. For this price, the item should work great. I was not happy at all, and the return to the store is a nightmare.
I'm always impressed by Plantronics headphone offerings. Time and again they are able to combine excellent functionality with comfort; they even mix in a bit of style in the process. The Plantronics Voyager Legend is an amazing headset, and you can read our review here .
Well-built; Comes with a good carrying case; Microphone boom flexible enough to stay tapped to the shape you want for best comfort and accuracy; Works as a wired USB headset or as a Bluetooth headset; Gets decent battery life; Comfortable
When using this headset as a Bluetooth headset you still have a relatively significant length of cable that ends with the controller; Some may find this to be a bit awkward although the built-in clip can help.
