Plantronics, well known for communication headsets and Bluetooth earpieces, has been showing more of its casual, active lifestyle side over the past year. The Plantronics BackBeat Pro, BackBeat Fit, and BackBeat Go 2 have been targeted at consumers looking for portable audio gear.

The BackBeat Sense headphones deliver good quality audio in a lightweight frame. The Backbeat Sense headphones support Bluetooth streaming to two paired devices - but not simultaneously - with a very lightweight design.

The other day we reviewed the Plantronics Backbeat Pro+ headphones. I love them but Raina, who likes their sound, found them too big, bulky and heavy on her head. She's right. Thankfully, I also have a pair of Plantronics Backbeat Sense Wireless Headphones on hand for review.

I may have more than half a dozen Bluetooth earphones lying around home and at work, but my personal preference is almost always skewed toward Plantronics. The BackBeat GO 2 has been a mainstay in my purse for almost two years, and the BackBeat Fit is my absolute favorite workout headset .

Plantronics might not be a company that immediately springs to mind when you think high-end headphones, with the likes of Beats, Bose, Sennheiser and Sony usually dominating best seller lists.

Plantronics has recently released it's new more mainstream pair of Bluetooth headphones the Backbeat SENSE. This pair is build more for the everyday on the go use and clocks in at $179.99 on the price. This joins their line up which includes the Backbeat PRO, and Backbeat FIT.

Although the audio quality may not be the fullest-sounding around, the u-shaped curve, clarity, dynamic range, and low levels of distortion deliver a superb and enjoyable experience. The BackBeat Sense does transmit touch-related noise through its frame, and the isolation is only ok.
