As with the 18-55WR, it's nicely put-together and feels a step up from many other kit lenses (including the older Pentax 50-200). Nice metal mount, and a thoughtfuilly-designed lens hood that allows the use of polarising filters.
Pros:
- Weather resistant
- very compact and reasonable performer for the price
Cons:
- Performance a bit variable depending upon focal length and aperture

Great price and range for rough weather
As a beach comber, marsh stomper and kayaker I needed a weather resistant lens covering as much range as possible. Not only is 50mm just not wide enough for all outdoor work but my copy was not sharp enough in tele mode to make me happy so I returned it a

Good IQ
Would be nice to have a little spacer between the focusing ring and the zoom ring, otherwise its a great lens that takes great pictures.

I read some reviews about how bad this lens is but I decided to give it a shot anyway. I think I lucked out and got a good copy because I am very pleased with this lens. The only issue is the auto focus hunting a little. I would not discourage anyone from buying the lens on that issue though.

New 50-200 kit lens is Water Resistant
I had just gotten the Pentax k20d body w. the 16-50 f2.8 zoom and was waiting for the WR version of the 50-200 lens. J & R had it first, and i had it the next day. The lens is nicely compact and lightweight. And i don't have to worry about the weather.

I always like it when I ...
I always like it when I buy something that does what it says it will do. This lens does just that I own a Samsung GX20 and it works perfectly on this camera.

VERY HAPPY WITH 50-200 MM (WR)
Got some great landscape, wildlife and people pictures at the beach. Good color, sharp rendition. Bought this along with the K7 kit that included the 18-55 mm. By adding this to the kit I have a good range for all types of landscape and wildlife photos.

Pentax lenses are value for money. the optics are first class. I like it.
First I'd like to talk about why I bought the lens. The dynamics of this lens is very appealing. To have a lens with full zoom capabilities throughout the range and close focus in a lens this size is uncommon at the very least.

It works as well as my Pentax 18-55 f4-5.6 WR lens. Now I have an essentially 10x capability. Remmeber to turn off the camera before swapping out lenses!
