Panasonic Lumix DMC-G7

The Panasonic Lumix G7 is built around a 16 megapixels Four-Thirds CMOS sensor paired with a fast and powerful processor which lets it record 4K Ultra-HD video at 30 FPS or 1080p HD at 60 FPS.

Very low image noise; Superb detail retention; Nice image colors after tweaking; Instant shutter-lag with short blackout; Speedy autofocus; Extremely sensitive AF; Fast shot-to-shot speed; Large and sharp EVF; Calibratable LCD; Highly customizable

Frequent overexposure; Limited dynamic-range; Yellow color-cast in low light; Exposure-Priority only in Manual mode; Wrong Live-Histogram; Flex in LCD hinge; Pause after filming; Very slow to power-off

Panasonic Lumix G7

I liked the Panasonic Lumix DMC-G7 a lot more than I expected. The G7 brings the company's midrange line of enthusiast and family-oriented interchangeable-lens models up to date with features like 4K/UHD (ultra high definition) video and the company's most recent autofocus and image-processing...

For the money; the Panasonic Lumix DMC-G7 delivers great photo and video; excellent performance and a broad feature set

It's another in a long line of Panasonic cameras with proprietary USB connectors and some people might find it too complicated

I started this review by stating that I believe the G7 is trying to be a non-specific ILC, rather than draw attention to its mirrorless nature. There are aspects to the user experience, such as the seamless viewfinder/ rear LCD operation (in combination with the use of rear screen to select AF...

Solid image quality in both Raw and JPEG; 4K (UHD) video; Built-in Wi-Fi with comprehensive set of features; 4K Photo mode with clever pre-burst option for grabbing stills from video; In-camera Raw conversion for post-shot re-processing; Super-fast focus for single AF acquisitions; Impressive...

Mechanical shutter causes some softness at around 1/100th exposures; Number of external controls make the camera seem more complex than it is; Dated Q.Menu is over-complex; Touchscreen control tabs leave the screen a bit cluttered (though they can be disabled; Wi-Fi can be overwhelming and...

Replacing the Panasonic G6, the G7 sits beneath the Panasonic GH4 in the company's line-up of compact system cameras. It's the smaller of the two SLR-like models, and is aimed at enthusiast photographers. It sits alongside the rectangular Panasonic GX7, and above the GF7, GM1 and GM5.

OLED viewfinder; Vari-angle touch-screen; Integration of 4K Photo shooting

Two-year-old sensor; Lightweight build; Micro Four Thirds type sensor is smaller than APS-C

Panasonic Lumix G7

The Panasonic Lumix G7 takes the classic G-series mid-range accessibility and bolts-on some of the higher-grade video skills of the Panasonic GH4 . That camera brought 4K video shooting to thousands, this one lowers the entry price a bit.

Plenty of control; 4K video; Great EVF

Plastic build; APS-C rivals offer better dynamic range

Camera brands have been hard at work, inventing new ways to simplify the photo-taking process. Panasonic's latest 4K technology pushes the idea that you'll never miss a moment by shooting a 4K video burst at 30fps and extracting the exact frame you want afterwards.

Great bang for your buck!

This is my first mirrorless camera, I am going overseas soon and always said I would get one for travel. I did a lot of searching for one in my budget and I must say now I have had some time with camera, I have found it quite easy to use for my first decent camera.

Easy to use; Compact; Screen size

Panasonic Lumix DMC-G7

The Panasonic Lumix DMC-G7 ($799.99 with 14-42mm lens) is a premium camera wrapped in a plastic body and bundled with a starter zoom lens. If you can get past the plasticky feel, you'll find that the 16-megapixel Micro Four Thirds sensor does a fine job capturing images, and an even better one when...

4K video; Built-in EVF; Vari-angle touch LCD; Dual control dials; Speedy performance; 4K Photo and Post Focus modes; Built-in flash

Tracking focus slows burst rate; Not available as a body only; Plastic build
