OPPO R11s and Plus – so much phone for so little (review)

I want a 6", 18:9, 2160 x 1080, AMOLED screen, the latest dual camera, facial recognition, fast charging and I don't want to mortgage the kids for it. Hell, maybe I want even more like a 6.43" screen! Ray Shaw [email protected] has a passion for IT ever since building his first computer in 1980.

So much phone for so little price

none really; almost flaghsip quality in a mid-range device

OPPO R11s Smartphone Red R11S review

The Oppo R11s is a great midrange phone with a brilliant camera and fantastic battery life.

The dual cameras take pretty good photos, even in low light; Battery life is great, and the 6-inch display is bright and vivid.

Oppo's custom take on Android borrows too much from iOS and doesn't feel as polished; The price is higher than most midrange phones.

Oppo R11s review: A midrange phone with a fantastic camera

Oppo was one of the biggest phone manufacturers of 2017, and the R11s ($460 at Amazon) makes it easy to see why.

Oppo R11s review

Simply put, the R11s is the most impressive handset that Oppo has released so far. Almost everything about it feels premium, even if a couple of things do keep its feet planted squarely in the mid-range.

Premium design; 18:9 AMOLED display; Fastest face recognition ever; Impressive dual camera setup

No NFC chip; Not waterproof; Micro USB port is outdated

Oppo R11s review: Super screen, except for one major flaw...

As a standalone device, the Oppo R11s is one of the best featured devices the company has produced so far. Ignoring the "rainbow smudge" screen issue, that elongated panel is otherwise technically very good, plus having fast-charging is a real bonus.

Attractive design - especially in red finish; Slim frame is comfortable to hold; VOOC fast-charging is brilliant; Screen is vibrant

Lack of oleophobic protection means lots of on-screen smudges; Camera often blows out highlights; Room for software improvement

Oppo R11s

Oppo was one of the biggest phone manufacturers of 2017, and the R11s ( $527.77 at Amazon.com ) makes it easy to see why. For a midrange phone, the R11s packs plenty of goodies, including a fantastic camera and well-made hardware that feels good in the hands.

OPPO R11s Review – OPPO's stepping up with Improved Camera &...

OPPO as always, manages to cram lots of things into their phone, yet keeping it lightweight with great battery life. OPPO R11s is a solid mid-range phone with reliable Facial and Fingerprint unlocks, great performance, and sophisticated camera.

Though they often get lumped in with Huawei and ZTE, Oppo have always had a very particular approach to the smartphone market. They aren't trying to be the best Android handset around.

Better display than base R11; Great performance for the money

Face unlock is weaker than competition; Looks dated when compared to iPhone X

Oppo has played to its strengths once again with the release of its brand-new R11s smartphone with an even better camera, built-in intelligence and an improved and sleeker design.

Oppo R11s: The iClone you know and love, but not quite the one you deserve

Though they often get lumped in with Huawei and ZTE, Oppo have always had a very particular approach to the smartphone market. They aren’t trying to be the best Android handset around. They’re playing a different game entirely, and their target audience isn’t the same one that HTC, LG and the rest are gunning for.

As an alternative to the iPhone 8, the R11s is easy to recommend - the performance is good, the camera rig is nice, it’s got a compelling build quality and slick feel-factor.
