OnePlus 8 Pro Onyx Black 8+128GB MP 02388 review
If we're grading 2020 on a curve—and, boy, does it need it—these are technically the best smartphones we've seen so far. The 8 Pro is a better phone than the Galaxy S20+, and it's $300 cheaper.
Pros:
- The 120Hz display looks beautiful. It's brighter, it's faster, and it's a joy to use
- Mostly stock Android with extra features is the model all OEMs should follow
- OnePlus finally fixed some long-running user complaints, like the lack of wireless charging and an IP68 water-resistance rating.
Cons:
- There is still no always-on display
- The fingerprint reader isn't any bigger or faster than last year
- Curved displays offer no benefits, but they distort the display image and reflect glare
- The hole punch front camera is a downgrade.

OnePlus delivers its masterpiece with the 8 Pro. It's as fast as an arrow thanks to the combination of hardware and Oxygen OS 10. The display flies through long scrollable contents with at 120 frames per second and spoils the eyes with an absolutely smooth display even for games.

OnePlus 8 Pro Onyx Black 8+128GB MP 02388 review
The OnePlus 8 Pro has some big shoes to fill, following-up on the success of last year's 7 Pro. At $230 more, though, it's hard to call it a successor — the days of flagship "killing" are done now that OnePlus phones can cost over $900.
Pros:
- Screen Super smooth, bright, and high resolution
- Performance This phone screams
- Camera Detail improvements, can take great photos sometimes
- Software OxygenOS remains one of the best Android skins
- Speakers Actually sound quite good (for phone speakers).
Cons:
- Curved edges "Waterfall" curved screens bother some people. They make it easier to hold, but accidental touches are a problem, and there is off-angle color shift and glare
- Size A curved screen helps, but this is a bigger phone, and you can't just choose based on size — the smaller model is missing...
