The OnePlus 8 Pro is a f*cking great phone. You will pay a price for it that you might not be used to for OnePlus phones, but the company is now producing phones without any of the catches of old. The camera has caught up. The wireless charging is faster than everyone else’s.

OnePlus has brought a number of key enhancements to the 8 Pro. The lovely design of the top-end 12GB/256GB model with its matte-green back, the 120Hz screen, IP68 rating, fast wired and wireless charging, in-screen front camera, Wi-Fi 6 and 5G all signify a serious 2020 flagship phone.
Pros:

- Top-end Snapdragon 865 chipset
- 120Hz screen refresh rate
- Fast wired and wireless charging
- IP68 dust/water resistance
- Alert slider on right edge
- In-screen front camera rather than pop-up
Cons:
- Odd colour filter camera

If we're grading 2020 on a curve—and, boy, does it need it—these are technically the best smartphones we've seen so far. The 8 Pro is a better phone than the Galaxy S20+, and it's $300 cheaper.
Pros:
- The 120Hz display looks beautiful. It's brighter, it's faster, and it's a joy to use
- Mostly stock Android with extra features is the model all OEMs should follow
- OnePlus finally fixed some long-running user complaints, like the lack of wireless charging and an IP68 water-resistance rating.
Cons:
- There is still no always-on display
- The fingerprint reader isn't any bigger or faster than last year
- Curved displays offer no benefits, but they distort the display image and reflect glare
- The hole punch front camera is a downgrade.

Even if it isn’t necessarily the best smartphone at one thing in particular, the OnePlus 8 Pro is an across the board corker that brings Sony’s latest smartphone camera sensor to a newly affordable price.

OnePlus delivers its masterpiece with the 8 Pro. It's as fast as an arrow thanks to the combination of hardware and Oxygen OS 10. The display flies through long scrollable contents with at 120 frames per second and spoils the eyes with an absolutely smooth display even for games.
