Great Travel Lens

The apature closes pretty fast once you start going above 30-40mm so you cross f4.0 pretty fast. In low lighting conditions, try to get closer instead of zooming into the subject as this will give you a bigger apature.
Pros:
  • This lens make a great travel lens for those who don't wanna carry multiple lens on a trip
  • The zoom range is perfect for daily use
  • AutoFocus is quick
  • Image quality is great
  • I leave it on my camera at all times
Cons:
  • Low lighting conditions can sometimes cause autofocus issues

Olympus 18-180mm f/3.5-6.3 Zuiko Digital review by trentdp

My wife uses this lens on her Olympus E-520 and likes it very much. It covers a nice range and is great for general photography which we do most of the time. Only small drawback is 18 mm is a little narrower than we would prefer but definately not a deal breaker.
Pros:
  • Nice light general purpose vacation lens
Cons:
  • It would be nice at 14mm on the wide end

Olympus Zuiko 1180mm zoom lens

I purchased this lens to save constantly haveing to swap from two smaller lenses which almost covered the same range as the 18-180. I am absolutely delighted with my purchase. It does all that I wanted to and although it has made my Olympus camera a little heavier I can live with that.

This 18-180mm lens from Olympus costs around £420 and is a compact super-zoom, perfect for travelling light. Apart from the 10x zoom range appealing to those who aren't comfortable changing lenses, the close focus distance should allow for frame filling close-up shots too.
Pros:
  • Good resolution at the shorter end
  • Light weight
  • Compact
Cons:
  • Flare control
  • Barrel distortion at 18mm
