Olympus XZ 10 or XZ 1?

I have been a fan of Olympus cameras since the days of the OM 10. I take lots of pictures. While I like a camera that is easy to use, I do like the option of using manual settings. My main camera is an E-620. It takes great shots and is a very intuitive camera---but it weighs a ton.

Excellent quality pocket camera

I'm very pleased with this little camera. I bought it as a pocketable travel/family camera to complement my larger camera system. The image quality is superb for its size, and the RAW mode allows me to squeeze the best out of the small sensor. The lens performs very well.
Pros:
  • Durable
  • Great Picture Quality
  • Lightweight

Olympus Stylus XZ-10 review

At first glance the Olympus Stylus XZ-10 looks like a shrunken-down version of the comapny's top-spec XZ-2 compact. But it's both more and less than that: this middling advanced compact is a curious mix of high-spec - thanks to raw capture and the inclusion of a brand new 5x optical zoom lens with...
Pros:
  • Small size
  • wide aperture lens
  • decent build quality
  • physical control ring around lens
  • raw file capture has its uses
  • often good quality from small sensor size
  • built-in ND filter
Cons:
  • Lens introduces visible softness
  • white balance can be off
  • some issues with lens column not retracting
  • reflective LCD screen
  • sensor-shift stabilisation doesn't benefit preview

Olympus XZ-10

The Olympus XZ-10 is a serious compact camera which offers full manual control over the picture-taking process. About 40% smaller than its big brother, the XZ-2, the XZ-10 has shrunk in comparison mainly because of the inclusion of a physically smaller 1/2.3" CMOS sensor and a fixed, rather than...

Olympus XZ-10 review: Olympus XZ-10

With great features like a fast f/1.8 lens and slow-motion video, the XZ-10 will win the hearts of photographers who want a pocketable camera. There are some image quality issues though, and battery life is short. When it comes to high-end compact cameras, Olympus has a pretty good pedigree. Models like the XZ-1 and XZ-2 featured bright lenses and plenty of manual controls. Now the XZ-10 steps in, priced (and sized) less than the premium camera, but with a whole range of features.
Pros:
  • Wireless flash control
  • Impressively low shutter lag times and fast AF
  • Art filters and photo montage for fun effects
  • Fast f/1.8 lens with rotating ring to change options.
Cons:
  • Lens exhibits plenty of chromatic aberration
  • Short battery life.

Olympus XZ-10

We're not quite sure what user group the XZ-10 is targeted towards. For starters, it has a bright f/1.8 lens, but it has been paired here with a reasonably small 1/2.3-inch sensor. Then there's the photo montage feature, which seems to be targeted towards entry-level users, but then the camera has...
Pros:
  • Wireless flash control
  • Impressively low shutter lag times and fast AF
  • Art filters and photo montage for fun effects
  • Fast f/1.8 lens with rotating ring to change options
Cons:
  • Lens exhibits plenty of chromatic aberration
  • Short battery life

Olympus Stylus XZ-10 – a serious compact P&S with an impressive array of features

Despite their financial troubles, Olympus still continues to release some very high quality cameras, which is a good thing, since we really don't want them to end up like Kodak (to be fair, they're most likely to be bought by some other conglomerate).
