This telephoto zoom for Four Thirds system compatible cameras is available from around £210 and sports a fast, silent focusing motor.
Olympus 40-150mm f/4-5.6 ED M.Zuiko Digital
Just got this a couple of days ago. It's great for portraits, and for nearer objects at mid focal range, it's terrifically sharp. However, zoomed out on distant objects, I found it didn't resolve very well.- cheap
- light
- at some focal lengths very sharp
- due to length can have nice blur at times
- although sometimes rough
- feels flimsy
- zooms out ridiculously long
- AF (on E-PM1) useless for moving objects
Olympus 40-150mm f/4-5.6 ED M.Zuiko Digital review by Ocean
small and handy but I am not used to the extreme cheap-construction Level without lens hood and every few month I got dust between the lenses Optics are good - the first half year, with a bit to much CA. With weekly practice it's getting worse. The price is to high, it's just a cheap-starter Zoom.- to expensive for the quality
- CA
- no metall
- cheap plastics
Olympus M.ZUIKO DIGITAL 40-150mm 1:4-5.6 ED R MSC - Review / Test Report
The construction of the lens is basic as to be expected from an affordable, consumer-grade lens. The lens body is made entirely of plastic down to the lens mount which is also why the lens is extremely light-weight at just 190g.

Olympus M.Zuiko Digital ED 40-150mm f4.0-5.6 R Review
The Olympus M.Zuiko Digital ED 40-150mm f4.0-5.6 R is a solid budget option for Micro Four Thirds shooters looking for an affordable telephoto zoom lens. The Olympus M.Zuiko Digital ED 40-150mm f4.0-5.6 R ($199.99 direct)($199.00 at Amazon) is one of the less expensive lenses you can attach to your Micro Four Thirds camera. It's designed to complement the entry-level M.Zuiko 14-42mm zoom that ships with Olympus PEN bodies like the E-PL5($199.00 at Amazon). It gives you the telephoto reach that the standard kit zoom can't manage, covering an 80-300mm field of view in terms of traditional 35mm photography. It doesn't have an ambitious aperture, and it's not as sharp from edge to edge as more expensive lenses, but it performs well in good light, bringing distant objects into clear view. The lens is light and compact when you consider its focal range. It measures 3.3 by 2.5 inches (HD), weighs just 6.7 ounces, and supports 58mm filters. The front element doesn't rotate when zooming or focusing, so using a polarizing filter is not an issue, but the lens does double in height when zoomed to the 150mm position. The barrel is plastic, wit...- Inexpensive

Olympus M.Zuiko Digital ED 40-150mm f/4-5.6
The 40-150mm is a good telephoto lens for interchangeable lens cameras that is incredibly lightweight and pretty sharp. Its build quality is not as refined as we would like, though the plastic construction isn't surprising given the budget price.- Good image quality
- Very lightweight
- Good price
- Plastic construction
- Lens can be difficult to extend because of the plastic friction
- though this does loosen up
- Relatively slow
Reviews: Olympus ZUIKO DIGITAL ED 40-150mm F4.0-5.6: Review
Olympus has introduced a new medium-range zoom lens specifically
If you spend money on digital SLR camera, you should purchase lens to go with it. It is major investment for the camera body, but the lens make the huge difference for the pictures. This lens is compact and durable. I like the lens a lot, the only complaint is the lens act slowly under low light.
