Olympus M.ZUIKO DIGITAL 40-150mm 1:4-5.6 ED R MSC - Review / Test Report
The construction of the lens is basic as to be expected from an affordable, consumer-grade lens. The lens body is made entirely of plastic down to the lens mount which is also why the lens is extremely light-weight at just 190g.
great lens
It's been a month since I got the lens and I have really been enjoing it. I contemplated which one to get for a long time and I'm not disappointed. I'm not a pro but the picture quality is amazing, especially outside.
Olympus 40-150mm f/4-5.6 ED M.Zuiko Digital
Just got this a couple of days ago. It's great for portraits, and for nearer objects at mid focal range, it's terrifically sharp. However, zoomed out on distant objects, I found it didn't resolve very well.- cheap
- light
- at some focal lengths very sharp
- due to length can have nice blur at times
- although sometimes rough
- feels flimsy
- zooms out ridiculously long
- AF (on E-PM1) useless for moving objects

- Excellent sharpness
- especially in the centre
- Lightweight and compact
- Focuses close for a telephoto zoom

- Plasticky construction
Olympus M.Zuiko Digital ED 40-150mm f/4-5.6
The 40-150mm is a good telephoto lens for interchangeable lens cameras that is incredibly lightweight and pretty sharp. Its build quality is not as refined as we would like, though the plastic construction isn't surprising given the budget price.- Good image quality
- Very lightweight
- Good price
- Plastic construction
- Lens can be difficult to extend because of the plastic friction
- though this does loosen up
- Relatively slow
Olympus M.ZUIKO Digital ED 40-150mm f/4-5.6
At the 150mm end, the angle of view narrows to 8.2°, equivalent to that of a 300mm lens mounted to a 35mm full-frame camera.
good travel lens
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend- Durable

This lens works great when you need a telephoto zoom. I have been impressed with the quality of the pictures and the feel of the lens and camera. I owned a 1/2 frame Olympus 35mm camera years ago and found it was the most useful camera in my collection because it was so easy to use and so small that...- Easy To Set Up
- Easy To Use
- Light
- Precision
- Small
- None that I know of
