Olympus M.ZUIKO Digital ED 14-150mm f/4-5.6 II

The Olympus M.Zuiko Digital ED 14-150mm f/4-5.6 II is a modest but worthy upgrade to the 5-year-old M.Zuiko Digital ED 14-150mm f/4-5.6 lens. The biggest improvement is the addition of dust and moisture seals, which means the lens can be used safely in wet and dusty environments alike, as long it is...

Stunning weather-sealed superzoom for a (relatively) low price

Bought this as a weather-sealed travel zoom to go with my OM-D EM-5 II, and expected some compromises because of the wide zoom range. It has exceeded my expectations, a stunning lens for the money. It's a lot of lens for the money, and competently replaces the 14-42 and 40-150 m.Zuiko kit lenses.

My Favorite Lens

I like the range and use it for most of my photographs. The only two lenses I carry most of the time are this and a 75-300 although I do occasionally use a 500mm lens for extreme distance. It is just too convenient to do without.

REVIEW: Olympus M.Zuiko Digital ED 14-150mm f/4-5.6 Lens Review

Handling and features This superzoom lens for Micro Four Thirds system cameras offers a 10.7x zoom range equivalent to a 28-300mm lens on a 35mm camera. It costs around £400 and sports Olympus' MSC silent focusing motor and a slim, compact and lightweight design.

Olympus M.Zuiko ED 14-150mm f4.0-5.6

The Olympus M.Zuiko ED 14-150mm f4.0-5.6 ($599.99 direct) is an all-in-one zoom lens for Micro Four Thirds cameras. Its 10.7x zoom range covers an impressive 28-300mm (35mm equivalent) field of view, and its aperture only narrows by one f-stop as you zoom.

Reasonable price tag; 10.7x zoom range; Compact design.

Modest aperture; Soft edges at longer focal lengths.

Poor image quality, OK for snapshots

Had the original model and sold it due to poor image quality. So tried the II, no visible improvement. One might say that I'm expecting too much from an 11:1 ratio zoom but the full four-thirds Pan-Leica 14-150 was almost pro quality.

So, so much better

Two months ago, I turned in my heavy Nikon gear, faithful friends for years, and swapped for an Oly e-m5 II. This was the lens I chose for its range and weatherproofing. I love it! I have taken over 500 photos since then and couldn't be happier.
