Poor image quality, OK for snapshots

Had the original model and sold it due to poor image quality. So tried the II, no visible improvement. One might say that I'm expecting too much from an 11:1 ratio zoom but the full four-thirds Pan-Leica 14-150 was almost pro quality.

Stunning weather-sealed superzoom for a (relatively) low price

Bought this as a weather-sealed travel zoom to go with my OM-D EM-5 II, and expected some compromises because of the wide zoom range. It has exceeded my expectations, a stunning lens for the money. It's a lot of lens for the money, and competently replaces the 14-42 and 40-150 m.Zuiko kit lenses.

So, so much better

Two months ago, I turned in my heavy Nikon gear, faithful friends for years, and swapped for an Oly e-m5 II. This was the lens I chose for its range and weatherproofing. I love it! I have taken over 500 photos since then and couldn't be happier.

Olympus M.Zuiko ED 14-150mm f4.0-5.6

The Olympus M.Zuiko ED 14-150mm f4.0-5.6 ($599.99 direct) is an all-in-one zoom lens for Micro Four Thirds cameras. Its 10.7x zoom range covers an impressive 28-300mm (35mm equivalent) field of view, and its aperture only narrows by one f-stop as you zoom.

Reasonable price tag; 10.7x zoom range; Compact design; Minimal distortion

Modest aperture; Soft edges at longer focal lengths; No image stabilization

I bought this for the times I want to travel light (situations where I want to have versatility between near and far focus). I pair it with my M10-II. The combination has worked well for me. I have used it primarily during the daylight hours.

Olympus M.Zuiko Digital 14-150mm f/4-5.6 Review

Gary Wolstenholme reviews this superzoom lens designed for Micro Four Thirds system cameras.

Excellent sharpness in the centre throughout the zoom range; Compact size; Lightweight; Silent autofocus; Falloff and distortion are well controlled; Good value

No lens hood supplied as standard; High CA levels when stopped down to f/11 or beyond at 14mm

The M Zuiko Digital 14-150mm F4-5.6 sees Olympus extending its Pen series lens range into superzoom territory, providing an upgrade option for compact camera owners who've grown used to having 10x or greater zoom ratios.

Relatively small and lightweight for its type; Respectable image quality for a superzoom (very good indeed from 25mm to 45mm; Fast; practically silent autofocus; Attractive bokeh (when you can get it

Rather high chromatic aberration at each end of the zoom; Corners rather soft at wideangle; Slightly plastic build for the price; Flash shadowing at wideangle; Lens hood not included; For Panasonic camera users; no optical image stabilization

Olympus M.Zuiko ED 14-150mm f4.0-5.6 II Review

The Olympus M.Zuiko ED 14-150mm f4.0-5.6 II ($599.99) is a minor update to the original version of the camera lens, the M.Zuiko ED 14-150mm f4.0-5.6 ($599.00 at Amazon) . The optics and zoom range are the same as the first version, but the build quality has been improved and the lens is now sealed against dust and moisture. It's not the best lens for shooting in low light due to its narrow aperture, but it's a solid option if you're looking for an all-in-one zoom that will all but eliminate lens changes when shooting outdoors. The 14-150mm ($499.99 at Amazon)  is compatible with Micro Four Thirds mirrorless cameras made by Olympus and Panasonic. Despite covering an epic zoom range (the equivalent of a 28-300mm zoom on a full-frame camera), the lens measures just 3.3 by 2.5 inches (HD) when set to its 14mm position. The 10-ounce lens does extend when zooming. The zoom ring occupies most of the lens barrel and has a textured finish. The manual focus ring sits in front of it; the len...

The Olympus M.Zuiko ED 14-150mm f4.0-5.6 II adds weather sealing, but doesn't offer any optical advantages over the first version of the lens.

10.7x zoom range; Good center sharpness throughout most of range; Weather-sealed design; Nominal distortion

Modest aperture; Weak edge and corner performance; Lacks image stabilization
