Nokia N8

Nokia has built a superb phone in the N8, with a class-leading camera and excellent connectivity, but has spoiled the whole package with its half-baked Symbian^3 software. This phone is only recommended to people looking for a basic phone experience matched with an outstanding camera.
Pros:
  • Solid
  • unique design
  • Outstanding camera
  • HDMI connectivity
  • 32GB expandable storage
Cons:
  • Symbian^3 feels incomplete with loads of inconsistencies
  • Performance is frequently sluggish
  • Home screen design needs work

Nokia N8 smartphone

The Nokia N8 fails to deliver a satisfying smartphone experience. An excellent camera and great multimedia features aren't enough to excuse the N8's...
Pros:
  • 12-megapixel camera with Carl Zeiss lens and Xenon flash
  • HDMI-port and USB On-The-Go
  • Superb luminium design
Cons:
  • Sluggish performance
  • Clunky UI and ultimately poor user experience
  • Comparatively poor Web browsing experience

If software is important to you, the Nokia N8 may fall behind the Apple iPhone 4, but otherwise it's worth adding to your list. It offers an outstanding specification, is particularly well made and offers excellent value for money.
Pros:
  • Like or loath the Nokia N8's styling, there's no debating the quality on offer here
  • It's constructed almost entirely from anodised aluminium, and is incredibly tough
  • A glass screen adds to the quality, and it's a smartphone that can easily withstand daily knocks and drops, It's the 12-Megapixel...
Cons:
  • The Nokia N8 may have an all new operating system, but like older touchscreen Nokias it's still clunky compared to offerings from Apple and Android
  • That said, it's a lot faster than older handsets, and there are lots of new apps on offer from the Ovi Store

Why We're Not Reviewing The Nokia N8

As much as we'd love to see a great new phone from Nokia, we're not reviewing the N8. The phone was, unfortunately, irrelevant before it launched. Like a top-of-the-line horse-drawn carriage released shortly after Neil Armstrong stepped on the moon.

Nokia N8 (Unlocked)

The Nokia N8 is an amazing mobile device, that's nearly unusable thanks to its interface. The phone is a perfect display of Nokia's strengths and weaknesses: stellar hardware, combined with an OS that appears to have been designed ten years ago.
Pros:
  • Excellent voice quality
  • Strong battery life
  • Spectacular 12-megapixel camera
Cons:
  • User interface is abysmal

Nokia N8 Review

The long anticipated Nokia N8 has finally made its way on the shelves and is trying to bring the Nseries to where it belongs, among the best devices in the world. Even though it might sound subjective, it seems that Nokia's Symbian^3 is still far from its Android and iOS competitors.
Pros:
  • The first thing to notice is the phone's compact build and the stylish look
  • I think Nokia took the path of simplicity and minimalistic look and that's a good thing in this case
  • Of course the main attraction of the phone is the 12-megapixel camera, which is the best on the mobile phone market.
Cons:
  • I think the main thing that drags the phone down is the same thing that should've boosted its sale, namely the Symbian^3 OS
  • Other things that I consider downsides of the smartphone would be the lack of a free office document editor (the one included requires payment), video player has some issues,...
