Nokia N8 Review
Even a hotshot camera can't save Nokia's N8 from a warmed-over OS, uncharacteristically cheap build quality and slow processor.
Pros:
- Vivid 3.5 inch AMOLED touchscreen
- 720p video capture with HDMI output
- 12-megapixel camera is fantastic
- 16GB internal memory
Cons:
- $500 price tag
- No battery access
- Slow processor lags sometimes
- Symbian v3 OS can't compete with Android or iOS
- Poor built-in Web browser
- No vertical QWERTY keyboard

Nokia N8 review
A lot is riding on the success of the Nokia N8. Not only is it the only high-end phone Nokia is set to release this year, it's also the first device to ship with the new version of the Symbian operating system, Symbian^3.

Nokia N8 review
With the N8, Nokia has seemingly thrown all the tech it can think of at the new handset in a bid to rival the likes of Android and the iPhone – a 12MP camera with ‘proper' Xenon flash, XVID and DIVX support, HD video capture, Dolby Mobile sound and an HDMI-out port are just the tip of the iceberg.
Pros:
- 12MP camera
- HDMI port
- Ovi Maps
Cons:
- Symbian^3 still seems archaic
- It's not the thinnest handset
- Messaging is something of a chore

Nokia N8 Review: In Depth
The Nokia N8 is a seriously powerful smartphone with some great features such as the 12-megapixel camera and the HDMI-out capabilities. However we feel there's much room for improvement on the user interface side of things and the web browser could do with a serious overhaul.
