With five cameras on the back, the Nokia 9 PureView will be a headline grabber from the moment its released! The Penta-lens camera module is certainly the PureView's Unique Selling Point and will include an autofocus module, LED flash and five camera sensors. Rumours suggest the sensors will consist of RGB, monochrome, telephoto, wide-angle angle and deep-sensing lenses, with the ability to shoot 64-megapixel resolution images for stunning clarity.

There are claims the Nokia 9 PureView will also come equipped with "Light" camera technology made by a company that specializes in “computational photography”; this promises exciting features such as lossless zoom, or 3D depth mapping. The smartphone might also be capable of shooting images through all the five sensors at the same time and being able to capture 10 times more light in low-light conditions.

Photographers certainly have plenty to look forward to. But what about the rest of the phone? There is speculation the Nokia 9 PureView will have a 5.99-inch AMOLED display that produces quad HD+ resolution and carries support for HDR10. A Snapdragon 845 chipset is rumoured to power the smartphone, while a big 4, 150mAh battery should keep the PureView going for hours on end.

We'll soon know what is true, and what isn't, when the phone is released in the near future. If all the rumours about the camera set up are true, the PureView will mean pure delight for photographers!

A bit niche

The headline feature is of course the camera - and it's a pretty specialized one at that. Most users will appreciate the increased dynamic range - so you can still see detail in the dark areas of an otherwise bright scene.
Pros:
  • Great camera (dynamic range
  • dramatic scenery
  • Options to save RAW images
  • depth info
  • Brilliant display in bright light
  • Ergonomic
  • Nice amount of RAM
Cons:
  • Buggy fingerprint reader
  • Slow processing of images (camera
  • Display colors washed out in low light
  • Tinny speaker
  • No SD card slot
  • JPEGs not great in low light

Nokia 9 PureView Hands-on: All the cameras

At Mobile World Congress 2019, HMD Global, the owner of the Nokia smartphone brand, launched a variety of new handsets, including the flagship Nokia 9 PureView. • Hardware is rock solid
  • Clean Android 9 Pie out of the box
Cons:
  • In-display fingerprint sensors still not ready
  • I expected more from the camera

Excellent phone, loudspeaker is garbage though

Photos are amazing, screen is responsive (dont use the fingerprint scanner), photos are amazing! The single loudspeaker is garbage though, my old xperia XZ had better speakers. Maybe with future firmware updates theyll fix it. Do not regret the purchase one bit!

Nokia 9 PureView review: Hands-on

It’s always tricky to fully assess a phone early after spending just 20 minutes with it, but even harder when it’s as photo-focussed at the Nokia 9 PureView. With its design and processor lagging behind the competition, the 9 PureView is likely to stand or fall based on whether or not the photo output lives up to Nokia’s hype. If it does, this could be a popular choice for phone photographers, but if it can’t stand out then this will feel like little more than a relic of 2018.

The Nokia 9 PureView is a good phone ruined by serious problems

The HMD-backed resurgence of Nokia in the smartphone market has been a real treat to watch. After years of watching Microsoft bungle its Nokia acquisition, the Nokia name is again emblazoned on excellent smartphone products. However, most Nokia phones have been toward the budget end of the spectrum.
Pros:
  • Design The Nokia 9 looks and feels high-end
  • and the weird camera module is kind of fun
  • Display The 6-inch OLED is solid
  • and thankfully it does not have an unnecessary notch
  • Haptics The Nokia 9 vibration motor is strong and tight.
Cons:
  • Fingerprint sensor It takes too much pressure, and the accuracy is poor
  • The sensor is also too high up on the display, Camera processing It takes ages and slows the whole phone down.

Nokia 9 PureView

There are many things to like about the Nokia 9 PureView. It has a speedy processor, solid software, and an attractive design. But the PureView is a phone best suited for those who are drawn to its unique camera system. For most people, the slightly pricier Samsung Galaxy S10e is a better option.
Pros:
  • Unique camera abilities
  • Android One guarantees multi-year updates
  • Attractive design
Cons:
  • In-display fingerprint sensor doesn't work well
  • Subpar battery life
  • No microSD slot for photography enthusiasts

Nokia 9 PureView Review

The Nokia 9 PureView could be the right smartphone for shutterbugs, but there are better options for everyone else. Over the past few years, Nokia has built a reputation for its solid lineup of budget phones. This year, the company is competing against the best high-end models on the market with its first flagship, the Nokia 9 PureView ($699). The PureView is a little different than your average flagship in that it's targeted at smartphone photography enthusiasts, with a five-lens rear camera array and the ability to shoot in Raw. And while it doesn't top other flagship camera phones like the Samsung Galaxy S10e, it's one of the few US models with monochrome sensors. It's an intriguing option for hardcore smartphone photography buffs, though the Samsung Galaxy 10e and OnePlus 6T are better overall for everyone else. Design and Durability The Nokia 9 PureView stands out compared with the slew of super-sleek flagships on the market. It has fewer curved edges, and the overall look is boxy, but not in a bad way. It's a gorgeous phone with a unique design language that's sure to draw a crowd of adm...
Pros:
  • Unique camera abilities
  • Android One guarantees multi-year updates
  • Attractive design
Cons:
  • In-display fingerprint sensor doesn't work well
  • Subpar battery life
  • No microSD slot for photography enthusiasts
