There are dozens of " Souls -like" games but Nioh is by far the most ambitious, polished and successful because it has taken Dark Souls ' digital DNA and genuinely evolved it into something both recognizable and different.

Admittedly, this critic was more than a little anxious going into Team Ninja's latest. After all, an action title that draws inspiration from Dark Souls and Diablo could turn out to be a colossal mess. These two games, great as they are, go together about as well as oil and water.
Nioh nicely complements what the Souls games did before it andtakes that foundation and adds its own unique flavour to create something that is both familiar and yet excitingly fresh and original in its own right.
I purchased this game as I'm a big fan of dark souls, I wasn't disappointed. The game is different enough to stand on its own two feet but the difficulty definitely lends it's self to dark souls, where this game shines above souls though is the combat, it's faster and more fluid and for me a lot...
The most reductive way to describe Nioh might be " Dark Souls in feudal Japan." Yet the Dark Souls games are so highly specific and demanding in their design principles that this comparison doesn't necessarily constitute an insult.
A hallmark of excellence. It may have some flaws, but they are negligible to what is otherwise a supreme title.
Fight your way through a feudal Japan mixed with monsters. Utilise 6 different weapons each with several stances. Upgrade your character and customise stats for your playstyle. Epic and unique boss battles push your limits. Tackle a level in co-operative mode.
Great weapon and stance variety – Strong unique setting – Loot element
PC version lacks stability and mouse control
Have you ever wondered what the result would be if you combined the combat and brutality of a Soulsborne title and the loot system of Diablo, all wrapped up in a demonically infested feudal Japan setting- No need to strain your imagination, Nioh will answer this for you!
"Nioh may not be the instant classic many were hoping for, but it's a far better game than I was expecting and easily my favorite Team Ninja game to date." © 2017 Sony Interactive Entertainment, Team Ninja. All rights reserved.
Engaging combat that rewards skill and precision
Convoluted level design; limited bestiary; terrible bosses
Looks gorgeous in motion; Massive game with huge gameplay variety; Uber challenging, just what Dark Souls fans will love;
Uber challenging, if you hate Dark Souls you’ll hate this too; Complex mechanics and modes take a while to master; Seriously, it’s bloody hard;
