Nikon Nikkor Z 24mm f/1.8 S Review

The Nikon Nikkor Z 24mm f/1.8 S ($999.95) is another in the company's first wave of prime lenses for its full-frame mirrorless camera system. It's the widest-angle entry yet, and its optical performance is superb. If you're shopping for a wide prime for your Z camera, you won't be disappointed. Built for Mirrorless Nikon's full-frame mirrorless cameras can use SLR lenses via the FTZ adapter, without any drop in performance or image quality. But it adds some bulk to the system. The Nikkor Z 24mm is a new optical design, built to take advantage of the short distance between lens mount and sensor you get with a mirrorless camera. It's typically sized for a full-frame prime—3.8 by 3.1 inches (HD) without the included hood. It weighs 15.9 ounces, supports 72mm filters, and ships with front and rear caps and a soft carrying pouch. Nikon NIKKOR Z 24mm F1.8 S Lens - Brand New review

The Apple iPhone 14 isn’t a huge upgrade on the iPhone 13, yet it still is a great phone with a top camera, good battery life and all the iOS benefits.

Clever safety features, Very good battery life, Reliable camera, Fun colours, You’ve got an ageing iPhone: If you’re on an iPhone 11 or older, then the changes here will make a notable difference.

Stuck on a 60Hz display, Minimal differences to the iPhone 13, You’ve got an iPhone 13: The changes from Apple’s previous phone aren’t enough to warrant an upgrade this year.

Nikon NIKKOR Z 24mm F1.8 S Lens - Brand New review

The Apple iPhone 14 is no match for the just-released iPhone 14 Pro, but if you ignore that, it’s one of the most effective phones around.

Great cameras, front and back, Fast performance, Good battery life, Innovative safety features

Design too familiar, Some average features

Nikon NIKKOR Z 24mm F1.8 S Lens - Brand New review

“The iPhone 14 isn't a huge upgrade compared to its predecessor. But with a great design, screen, performance, and cameras, that's far from a bad thing at all.”

Comfortable, high-end build, OLED screen looks fantastic, A15 chip performs great, Good camera upgrades, Dependable battery life, Helpful safety features

60Hz display, No telephoto camera, eSIM might be a pain for some

Nikon NIKKOR Z 24mm F1.8 S Lens - Brand New review

The iPhone 14 isn’t much of an upgrade over the iPhone 13, but it’s still a great device and an upgrade for anyone coming from the iPhone 11 or older.

Great camera, Good battery, Emergency features are cool, Still excellent performance

Display could use some upgrades

Nikon NIKKOR Z 24mm F1.8 S Lens - Brand New review

More like an iPhone 13S. The generational upgrades for the iPhone 14 are limited to a few subtle changes. At the same time, however, the base price climbs to 800 USD, while the only true innovation happens inside the iPhone 14 Pro series.

excellent OLED display, dust- and waterproof, fast Wi-Fi, wide range of supported frequencies, great camera, very fast performance, good battery life

display limited to 60 Hz, charging rate limited to 20 watts, no macro lens, wide notch

Nikon NIKKOR Z 24mm F1.8 S Lens - Brand New review

What a dilemma. Discounting the price, this is an amazing lens that reaches the very highest level of quality. However, there are many lenses not that far behind, almost as fast, even at f/1.4 where the choice widens considerably. These are a fraction of the price of the Nikkor Z.

Outstanding sharpness, Virtually zero CA, Excellent flare resistance, Excellent handling, Quality manufacture, Custom functions for L-Fn button, Sublime handling of point light sources, Virtually no distortion, Beautiful bokeh effects

Huge price tag, Weight, Screw thread lens hood

Nikon NIKKOR Z 24mm F1.8 S Lens - Brand New review

The new Nikon Noct is exceptional in its build, image quality and aspiration. Undeniably big, heavy and expensive, it’s impractical for the majority of Z-camera shooters, but actually more practical than I’d imagined. Its image quality is stunning.

Nikon NIKKOR Z 24mm F1.8 S Lens - Brand New review

While it's a shame that picture and sound quality haven't been upgraded, the iPhone 13 was great in these regards and the iPhone 14 is, too Excellent display Admirable headphone performance Solid build quality No upgrades to picture or sound Familiar design Notch is still present
