Great Macro for Z7 (with FTZ)
Functions flawlessly with FTZ on Z7. Extremely sharp images. I am using this lens for macro primarily with the Focus Shift function and then stacking with Zerenestacker software. Flawless operation with this combination.
Works awesome paired with my D850
I do alot of macro photography and this lens paired with the D850 is killer. I use 4 monitors and I can stretch the image over the 4 with out losing any detail. I'm stretching it out over 8ft. of monitors.
Get Closer!
The Nikon 105mm Macro lens is a fantastic addition to your kit if you're the kind of shooter who likes to get up close to your subject. Ideal for those who are looking to get close to subjects that spook easy; insects are a good example. Further, this lens works great for portraits as well.
Nikon AF-S 105mm f/2.8G IF-ED VR Micro Review
Thanks to the addition of Vibration Reduction (VR) technology this is a big lens by conventional 100mm macro standards, and it is also heavier and more expensive than the norm.- Packed full of features
- Dubious use of VR technology

Nikon AF-S 105mm f/2.8G Macro VR F2.8 G - BRAND NEW review
Nikon packed many new features into the Micro-Nikkor AF-S 105mm f/2.8G IF-ED VR. The most obvious one is probably the new IF design so the physical length of the lens remains constant regardless of the focus setting.

Nikon AF-S VR Micro-Nikkor 105mm f/2.8G IF-ED Review
The Nikon AF-S VR Micro-Nikkor 105mm f/2.8G IF-ED captures sharp images and is capable of true 1:1 macro magnification, making it a clear Editors' Choice. The Nikon AF-S VR Micro-Nikkor 105mm f/2.8G IF-ED ($984.95) is a lens that macro photographers are sure to lust after. Its fairly compact, can focus close enough to project life-size images onto a full-frame image sensor, and its optical stabilization system and f/2.8 aperture make low-light use a reality. It's one of the sharpest lenses that we've seen for the Nikon camera system, and earns Editors' Choice honors. The Micro-Nikkor measures 4.6 by 3.3 inches (HD), weighs 1.6 pounds, and supports 62mm front filters. It supports 1:1 magnification at its minimum (12-inch) focus distance, which means that the size of the object that the lens projects on the camera's image sensor matches the object's real-life size. Some shooters may prefer a macro lens with a longer working distance, like the Sigma APO Macro 180mm F2.8 EX DG OS HSM ($1,799.00 at Amazon) , which gives you about 6 extra inches from your subject at 1:1 magnification, but the Sigma lens is much larger and heavier (8 by 3...- Very sharp

Nikon AF-S Micro NIKKOR 105mm f/2.8G IF-ED VR
Definitely the macro lens to start. Maybe for nice softer background look for 200mm macro, and for higher magnification than 1:1 try reverse macro technique, but in basic range this is the the only choice.- Optical stabilizer (works fine even at close-up distances)
- ultra fast focusing (from 0.5m - ∞)
- durable metal body
- - The focusing is amazingly fast from 0.5m further
- but on the macro distance 0,3-0,5m is not so accurate as at the longer distances
- but in this situation you will focus manually either
- - "framing" is moving during focusing (find more info on internet reviews
Very nice
The last macro lens I owned fit my Pentax K1000 manual (film) work horse body and it was not fixed length and had almost no image distortion at edges. It was a great all purpose lens that also happened to be a macro. Compared to today's prices it also cost almost nothing.- Easy To Use
- Fixed Focal Length
