While I hope to create a full Nikon 55-200mm f/4-5.6G AF-S DX Lens, my first priority is to include results from this lens in the lens comparison tools available on the site. This page currently exists because it is required by the database and content management systems for me to post information...

AF-S DX 55-200mm F/4-5.6G IF ED VR Zoom Lens Review

Jan 23rd. Most digital SLR cameras are sold in a kit form with a standard 18-55mm type of zoom lens. While suitable for more common photo situations, such as group shots of people or wide-angle landscapes, a standard kit lens is not as practical for capturing distant subjects.

This lens is a bargain! It lets you take great pictures and it's nice and light -- that's the plus side of it's mostly plastic construction. The downside is that you need to be careful with it. Treat it well and it will last for years though.

Nikon 55-200mm f/4-5.6G IF-ED VR DX AF-S Nikkor review by Glutte

Sharpness is not that bad,nor is contrast or even color at f/8-f/11. But I never liked pictures taken with this lens so after awhile I replaced it. I don't have the money to invest in pro zoom so instead I bought: - Nikon 50mm 1.8 ai-s 50$ - Nikon 105mm 2.5 ai 130$ - Nikon 180mm 2.8 ai-s ED 200$...
Pros:
  • Price
  • moderately sharp and contrasty
Cons:
  • Build
  • pictures lackluster

Not sure!

Not sure what to write as I am a big Nikon fan. I bought refurbished lense and it looks like there is still some problem with it. It doesn't go in continues mode, takes time to focus and after click it creates some very unusual sound with lense movement from inside.
Pros:
  • Consistent Output
Cons:
  • Lens Creep

The NIKKOR 55-200mm f/4-5.6G IF-ED Lens lets me capture brilliant shots thanks to the inventive Vibration Reduction technology. Its price does not hurt too.

Nikon AF-S DX VR 55-200mm f/4-5.6G IF-ED review

Wouldn't it be great to get some serious telephoto zoom reach without filling up most of your gadget bag with a big clunky lens? The Nikon Nikkor AF-S DX VR 55-200mm f/4-5.6G IF-ED fits the bill with a remarkably compact design, and it's less than half the weight of its big brother, the Nikon...
