1 Stop Camera gave great service...
I purchased this lens back in October and have been meaning to write to say that 1 Stop Camera actually called and left a message on our machine to let us know that they sent the lens to us. I was very surprised to get such personalized service and wanted to commend them for that.

Nikkor AF-S DX 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6G VR - Review / Test Report
The Nikkor AF-S DX 18-55 VR is a typical kit lens in the sense that it delivers a lot of value for rather little money. It's probably not the lens of anyone's dreams, especially regarding its rather poor build quality.

great lens
this lens is super sharp and arguably sharper than the very expensive 17-55mm 2.8.but not of the same build quality.the little click on HB-45 lens hood is great but not included.the down side is the plastic lens mount.
Pros:
- very sharp and vr
Cons:
- plastic lens mount

Nikkor AF-S DX 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 G VR
The Nikkor DX 18-55mm VR was announced in November 2007 as the company's latest budget kit lens. It will work on any Nikon DX format DSLR, although is best-suited to the entry-level models like the D40, D40x and D60.
Pros:
- VR effectively combats camera-shake
- Relatively quick and quiet SWM focusing
- Compact and light
- Good performance for the money
Cons:
- Front section rotates when focusing
- Basic manual focusing facilities
- Doesn't come with lens hood
- Previous Mark II lens better in some tests

Lens Test: 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6G VR AF-S DX Nikkor
Nikon offers tyros an option to upgrade to Vibration Reduction technology at a very nice price ($199, street) with this digital-only (DX) kit lens. A 27-82.5mm equivalent, this 3X zoom also sports a near-silent SWM focusing motor. HANDS ON

upgrade is really worth it.
This is an upgrade I made to my new camera package. I don't really know much about photography yet but my friend strongerly recommended that I get the VR lens and I'm assuming that is one of the reasons why but my photos turn out beautifully.
Pros:
- Really helps novice photographer
Cons:
