Excellent lens for university Photography student!
I was very pleased to give this lens as a gift to my friend, who is a student; he is earning 2 Certificates in Photography before he enters a degree program in Photography at an international university.
Pros:
- Quality is outstanding
Cons:
- Cost may be prohibitive for many university students

Beach Camera provided the lens on time and in great condition. This lens is hands down one of the best zoom lens for action photos for either day or night time photography. It is bit heavy but any decent Sport zoom is going to be.

Should have bought sooner!
Far better than the VR I for FX body. Sharper wide open at 200MM. Vignetting is less obvious and of little concern. AF is very fast and right on sharp.
Pros:
- Sharp
Cons:
- Heavy

Worth every penny
This is my new go to lens for sporting events. It isn't one that you can hand hold for very long though so plan on bringing a tripod or unipod along with you.
Pros:
- Fast accurate auto-focus
- Good in low light
- Sharp
Cons:
- Heavy bulky

My Favorite Lens
I purchased this lens to replace the original 80-200 mm f/2.8 ED AF lens. I am a sports photographer and find that using a monopod isn't always feasible, especially when shooting alpine ski racing. The VR II lens enables me to shoot without one.
Pros:
- Improves Picture Quality
- Easy To Use
- Sharpest Images

Best Pro Zoom Bar None!
The VR II is simply amazing. You can save 4 stops of shutter speed hand holding. It make a huge difference. The 2.8 max aperture is great also for low light and indoor sports. This is the best lens you can get.
Pros:
- Easy To Use
- Improves Picture Quality
- VR II
Cons:
- Heavy

Nikon AF-S Nikkor 70-200mm f2.8G ED VR II
The Nikkor 70-200mm f2.8 VR II is a seriously expensive lens. The cost is down to its professional build quality and its constant f2.8 maximum aperture, which, in a lens with this focal range, is quite an achievement.
