Lightweight Gem with VR

A lightweight 300 mm with VR and very good image quality. I'd say the build quality is very good as well. I dropped it once abut 3 feet onto ceramic tile and it wasn't fazed.First time I remember dropping a lens and hopefuly the last. Paired with the D500 its great for wildlife and birds.

Impressive so far

"I, like many others, have been waiting for this upgrade to the 300mm f4 for a long time. I have had it now for a couple of weeks and can give my first impressions. First, it is a lot smaller and lighter than the lens it replaces, thanks to the use of diffraction optics.

Well done Nikon

Normally buy from Wex but on this occasion went elsewhere due to lower price, sorry Wex. This lens is one of the best buys I've made in some time, it is light, very light and small for a 300mm and yes I know its an f4 but for someone who used to lug a 300mm f2.8 about this lens is a revelation.

Consistent Output; Lightweight; Quick Focus; Sharp Focus

Weak Casing

This lens is always in my bag with the TC-14EIII teleconverter.

Extremely sharp Fast and accurate auto focus Very portable Feels professional (except for lens hood) VR works great on D750 and D7200

Could have better color / contrast Some ghosting when shooting into bright lights Some aberrations when paired with teleconverters

Nikon AF-S Nikkor 300mm f/4E PF ED VR Lens Review

Chances are if you take a poll of what photographers picked for their first telephoto lens, it would be the 300mm. For one thing, it's a good choice for those starting out in wildlife or sports photography and, given the nature of millimeters, it's relatively inexpensive as compared to the big guns...

The compact Nikkor 300mm f/4 VR is ideal for sports and wildlife. Let's take a look at the pro lens that breaks all the rules. Pro spec primes are large, heavy and expensive – aren't they? In many cases they are all of the above, and then some.

Nikon AF-S 300MM F/4E PF ED VR Lens JAA342DA review

It's nice to see innovation hard at work, and the resulting reduction in size and weight is welcome for users who were tired of lugging around the 3+ lbs. 300mm ƒ/4 AF-S. If there are any shortcomings with the new PF version, it is that it is not capable of the tack-sharp results we've seen in other...
