Nikon AF-S Nikkor 24mm f/1.8G ED

The AF-S Nikkor 24mm f/1.8G ED ($749.95) is the most recent entry in Nikon's line of affordable f/1.8G prime lenses. It has a bright aperture for depth of field control and low-light shooting, works with both FX (full-frame) and DX (APS-C) cameras , and covers a very wide-angle field of view.

Very sharp; Minimal distortion; Focuses to 9.1 inches

Dim corners at wide apertures; Omits vibration reduction

Nikon AF-S NIKKOR 24mm f/1.8G Review

Handling and Features Performance Verdict Specification There was a time when a 35mm lens was considered wide. Then the wide angle of choice became the 28mm. Our tastes have clearly continued to widen, as now the 24mm is taking prime position as one of our favourite wide angle focal lengths.

Very good sharpness; Very low CA; Highly flare resistant; Low distortion; Light and compact design; Fast and silent AF; Smooth bokeh

Soft wide open; No weather resistance

Nikon AF-S Nikkor 24mm f/1.8G ED Review

The AF-S Nikkor 24mm f/1.8G ED ($749.95) is the most recent entry in Nikon's line of affordable f/1.8G prime lenses. It has a bright aperture for depth of field control and low-light shooting, works with both FX (full-frame) and DX (APS-C) cameras, and covers a very wide-angle field of view. It's an excellent lens in terms of sharpness and distortion control, but corners are noticeably dimmer than the center at wide apertures. That's also true of our favorite 24mm lens, the Sigma 24mm F1.4 DG HSM Art ($791.37 at Amazon) , but the Sigma captures fifty percent more light than the Nikkor when shot wide open, and is also quite sharp, so it remains our Editors' Choice. DesignThe Nikkor 24mm ($746.95 at Amazon)  measures 3.3 by 3.1 inches (HD), weighs 12.5 ounces, and supports 72mm front filters. A reversible lens hood is included, and a gasket surrounds the lens mount, so you can feel comfortable using it inclement weather, assuming that your camera is protected from dust and moisture ...

The AF-S Nikkor 24mm f/1.8G ED is another excellent lens in Nikon's low-cost f/1.8G prime series.

Very sharp; Minimal distortion; Focuses to 9.1 inches

Dim corners at wide apertures; Omits vibration reduction

The Nikkor 1.8G series of lenses offer some really nice performance for the money, but it's safe to say that 3rd party lenses have come a long way in terms of performance over the past few years. Sigma is no exception to this; in fact one could say that it's led the charge.

Fast and light: Nikkor 24mm F1.8G ED lens review

The Nikkor 24mm 1.8G ED is a fast and lightweight wide-angle prime that offers very nice optical quality at a bargain price. The lens offers smooth and fast autofocus and a solid amount of light gathering ability with an F1.8 maximum aperture, which makes it one of Nikon's most affordable and best performing wide-angle primes.

The lens is great for architecture, landscape, astrophotography applications and photographers looking for a fast and lightweight walk-around wide-angle.;

High magnification/macro photography or shooters looking to use this lens in inclement weather conditions;

Nikon AF-S Nikkor 24mm f/1.8G ED

The Nikon AF-S Nikkor 24mm f/1.8G ED is a high-quality, compact and affordable wide-angle lens for full-frame Nikon DSLR users. Centre sharpness is good at the maximum aperture, and excellent from f/2.8 onwards, although you need to stop down to f/4 to get acceptable results at the edges of the...

a real peach

What can you say: shes a gem. Hands down the sharpest lens Ive ever put on a Nikon. Used it with an f100, a D7100 (for a 36mm equiv), and a D810. I always suspected that it had more to offer than crop sensor or 35mm frame are able to resolve. Sure enough, it simply sings on FF.

Superb New F1.8

This is a lens for all seasons. The contrast and resolution is extremely high as compared to other lenses I use, and the color correction is at "top of its class". No purple fringing was noted when shooting into the sun or around backlit highlights, and the contrast wide open is extraordinary.

meh

decent lens. not sharp or that impressive as some claims. I used it with Nikon D7100. maybe if I use it with a full frame camera my opinion might change.
