I wanted an ultra wide for my Nikon D750 to supplement my Nikkor 28-300. It was a decision between the Nikkor 16-35mm or this 18-35. DxO Mark says that for my D750, this 18-35 would be sharper than the more expensive 16-35mm. Wow.

I tried this lens as a replacement for my Nikon AF 24mm f/2.8 D and I was pleasantly surprised. It's sharper and it has better contrast than the 24mm. It's also very lightweight and compact for a full frame wide angle zoom. I like how this lens handles/feels on a Nikon camera body.
Compact; lightweight; nice handling; sharpness; contrast; silent autofocus
Could be a little sharper at 35mm
This lens stays on my D750 most of the time. All my lenses are fast lenses (f/2.8 or faster) so i was a little hesitant when purchasing this lens. but i have yet to miss f/2.8 with this thing! It is amazingly sharp and focuses fast. it is simply perfect!
I haven't put the lens through extensive tests, but so far I'm pleased. I was a little worried that everyone mentioned the distortion at 18mm, but it's easily fixed in Lightroom or photoshop. The lens is well made, but not too heavy. It goes well with the Nikon D600.
Lightweight; sharp
Great light and compact lens for the full chip. Easy to use and good value. Good lens for landscape and general use.
The Nikkor AF-S 18-35mm f/3.5-4.5 G ED delivers excellent center sharpness and very good border and corner performance throughout most of the zoom range, at least when stopped down. Only at the long end of the zoom range the overall resolution drops a little.
In the following material we have an opportunity to present the full test of that latest acquisition of Nikon – enjoy your reading! We had an opportunity to test that lens courtesy of the Foto Plus shop from Cracow – thank you very much!
very good resolution in the frame centre; good image resolution on the edge of the APS-C sensor; negligible longitudinal chromatic aberration; good performance against bright light; slight astigmatism; silent and efficient autofocus; moderate vignetting for such a class of equipment; sensible price,...
weak image quality on the edge of full frame at the maximum relative aperture; build quality of the casing and the manual focus ring should have been better; high distortion on wide angle
This is a great wide angle lens with clear sharp pictures.Although plastic, it feels well constructed and designed. Lens correction data is available for this lens on Nikon site. You will still need a tripod or support for longer exposures in low light.
Consistent Output; Easily Interchangeable; Fast / accurate auto-focus; Strong Construction
Poor in Low Light
