Fisheye problems

There's no doubt that the Nikon fisheye lens is easy to use, as long as you understand how it works. (This lens has no aperture setting and exposure must be carefully controlled from the camera.

Good for what it does in limited circumstances

Chromatic aberration

Nikon 10.5mm f/2.8G ED DX Fisheye Nikkor Review

Gary Wolstenholme reviews the Nikon 10.5mm f/2.8G ED diagonal fisheye lens for DX format SLRs.

Excellent sharpness from maximum aperture; Very good build quality; Hyperfocal scale; Smooth manual focusing action; Compact and reasonably lightweight

Chromatic aberrations towards the edges of the frame; Falloff of illumination towards the edges at maximum aperture; No silent wave motor means no AF on entry-level bodies

On Nikon DX D-SLRs, the crop factor puts this lens at around a 16mm full-frame equivalent, but it boasts a 180º angle of view making it much ‘˜wider' than a normal wide-angle.The lens performed well on test with fast, accurate AF that very rarely suffered from hunting.

Great value and but would get a better focal legnth

I always liked the effect and wanted to get a fisheye for a lower price. I was thinking about getting a universal one but i decided to go with a nikon one. i really like it.

I already had a superwide for my D300, but when a friend had to sell this lens in a hurry so his wife would let him buy some other lens, I purchased it for only $250. This lens is really sharp and might be one of the best fisheyes built with respect to optics.

Great DX Fisheye that can be shaved and work well on FX; This is pro-level glass in my opinion and a lot of fun

The only con might be that people sometimes overuse a fisheye for it's distortion

I was debating with myself for about a year before I finally decided to buy this lens. It is a very specialized lens and can't be used that often. At least that's what I initially thought about this lens.

Very sharp in the center; rivals the best primes !! (well it is a prime too; It is very close focusing - 14cm- and with the extreme depth of field you can shot pictures from literally inside flowers; Max aperture of 2.8 comes handy shooting in the twilight zone

CA - but can be easily corrected in PS-ACR; Other than that : NONE; Well; you have to be carefull not to get your hands/feet in the picture but that is not a weakness of the lens; but comes with 180° diagonal coverage

Nikon AF DX Fisheye-Nikkor 10.5mm f/2.8G ED

The Nikon AF DX Fisheye-Nikkor 10.5mm f/2.8G ED ($774.95) is one of those lenses that's just a joy to use. When paired with a DX Nikon SLR , the svelte prime captures the world in front of it with a curved, fish-eye perspective.

Compact; Ultra-wide fish-eye; Very sharp; Close focus capability

Pricey; Lacks internal focus motor; Shows some color fringing

Nikon AF DX Fisheye-Nikkor 10.5mm f/2.8G ED Review

The Nikon AF DX Fisheye-Nikkor 10.5mm f/2.8G ED ($774.95) is one of those lenses that's just a joy to use. When paired with a DX Nikon SLR, the svelte prime captures the world in front of it with a curved, fish-eye perspective. It can focus very close, produces crisp images, and features the build quality you expect from a Nikon lens. But it's not without some drawbacks, notably its price and the lack of autofocus support in entry-level SLRs like the D5500. There are less expensive alternatives out there, like the Samyang 8mm f/3.5 Fisheye ($279) and the Lensbaby Circular Fisheye, although the latter features a more extreme field of view that doesn't entirely fill the frame. DesignThe 10.5mm is a svelte lens, measuring about 2.5 by 2.5 inches (HD) and barely tipping the scales at a meager 10.8 ounces. The hood is integrated, and a slip-on cap protects both it and the bulbous front element. Because of the design of the lens, screw-in filters cannot be used. There's no stabilizatio...

The Nikon AF DX Fisheye-Nikkor 10.5mm f/2.8G ED lens allows you to capture the world in a unique perspective, but it only autofocuses with select Nikon SLRs.

Compact; Ultra-wide fish-eye; Very sharp; Close focus capability

Pricey; Lacks internal focus motor; Shows some color fringing

Useful lens

I just started using the lens this week. It was so easy to use but have to be extra careful not to get too close to human subject. Fun also to use during party.

easy useful and fun

be aware of distance to your subject
