Nikon AF Nikkor 85mm f/1.8D Lens Review
Nikon AF Nikkor 85mm f/1.8D, first introduced in 1994, is one of two 85mm primes in Nikon's modern lens lineup (the other one being AF Nikkor 85mm f/1.4D). The lens, along with its faster f/1.4 cousin, has gone through four (five if we count the specialized 80mm f/2 variant) revisions and was...

Nikon 85mm f/1.8D AF Lens
While I hope to create a full Nikon 85mm f/1.8D AF Lens, my first priority is to include results from this lens in the lens comparison tools available on the site. This page currently exists because it is required by the database and content management systems for me to post information and standard...

Nikon offers the 85mm f/1.4 D AF (£897) and the newer 85mm f/1.4 G AF-S. The 85mm f/1.8D AF was launched in ‘94 and its design does look older than its rivals. Designed for Nikon D-SLRs that use the FX mount, it's also compatible with DX cameras such as the D7000 and offers an equivalent of 127.5mm...

Nikon 85mm f/1.8D AF Nikkor review by Chop
Super portrait lens. Very sharp and great Bokeh. Fast enough and a pleasure to use. I pull this for use on my F100 with slow film.
Pros:
- Great Portraits and balance between cost and quality
Cons:
- Some guys like a little longer option

One of the best values among Nikkors
I've used both the 1.4 and the 1.8 versions of Nikon's 85mm, and for approximately half the price, the 1.8 version represents one of the best values in the Nikkor family. It actually focuses faster due to the smaller elements involved.
Pros:
- Consistent Output
- Easily Interchangeable
- Lightweight
- Quick Focus
- Sharp Focus
Cons:
- No built in motor
- Plastic construction

Pros:

Nikkor AF 85mm f/1.8 D - Review / Test Report
The Nikkor AF 85mm f/1.8 D was a very boring lens during the tests simply because it showed a exceptional performance in all tested categories. Besides the lab results the lens shows a beautiful bokeh (out-of-focus blur).

This is certainly a fantastic write-up.
Pros:
- This compact, affordable 85mm prime lens is an excellent choice for portrait photography and HD video recording
- Its fast f/1.8 maximum aperture with manual control offers outstanding low-light performance, natural background blur and smooth aperture adjustments during Live View shooting.
