Excellent glass, high transmittance and sharpness
One stellar fact about this lens is that it's T-stop value is t/1.8. Due to the phenomenal optical design correcting aberrations with a mathematically optimal number of elements via a fast rear-focusing breakthrough, this lens is within 1/3rd of a stop as bright compared to both of the Nikon f/1.4...

Nikon 85mm 1.8 AFD Lens
Lens balances well on camera body, does great job of blurring background(great for portraits)and is tack sharp. Color, resolution, and detail are excellent with this lens. You can use it as a portrait lens, moderate telephoto lens and is great in available light.

Designed for Nikon D-SLRs that use the FX mount, it's also compatible with DX cameras such as the D7000 and offers an equivalent of 127.5mm...

Indoor sports with no flash!
I wanted to take my own pictures at my 2 daughters gymnastics competitions. Most gyms have very poor lighting and flash is not allowed. My Nikon f/4.5 zoom lens gave me decent pictures at max ISO with exposure compensated to +5.0 from my D90 but I needed faster shutter speed to get rid of slight...

Great little lens
I love this lens, debated for a bit whether to get the 1.4. but after buying this one I have no regrets. Since I rarely shoot wide open, the 1.4 did not seem to make sense. The lens is very sharp and feels well built.
Pros:
- small light
- sharp
- good price
