Nikon appears to be releasing D7*** cameras on a roughly 18 month rota with the latest model, the D7200, announced in March this year. It's a very modest update with a body that is virtually identical to the D7100, along with the same viewfinder and monitor.

The Nikon D7000 range which replaced the D90 I would highly recommend. They are really well build (weather sealed) and are great value in the APS-C size sensor. The D7200 is the latest one in the series has Expeed4 processor and ISO boost.

Nikon's D7200 is a dynamite machine and a pleasure to shoot. It's nimble, responsive and has good ergonomics. The D7200 sensor is a terrific performer. If DX sensors get much better could FX and those heavy FX lenses be in danger?

I've had the Kit for nearly a month and have taken 1100 pictures, mostly birds, flowers and bugs in the garden. It does a very nice job. This is an upgrade from the D5200 I purchased early after its release. The new camera cost nearly twice much as the old one but isn't double the camera.
