Nikon D7200

The D7200 is the new Nikon APS-C flagship. It combines a refined 24 MP sensor with class-leading native ISO range and fast processor to deliver great image-quality and speedy performance. This is a sturdy professional DSLR with efficient controls for both stills and video.

Superb control over image nose; Good color-accuracy after tweaking; Stellar dynamic range; Ultra-sensitive AF; Nearly instant black-out; Exceptionally fast and responsive; Manual focus assist direction indicator; Excellent build quality

Frequent and severe over-exposure; AWB not perfect under artificial light; Bizarre Auto ISO; Indistinct ISO button; Very poor live-view; Noise-Reduction forced at ISO 800; Lens correction slow down camera; Level difficult to see

Nikon D7200 review: Sharp shooting with a DSLR for photography enthusiasts

If you're a complete amateur looking for your first ever DSLR, then the Nikon D7200 is probably more than you'll need. There are cheaper DSLRs out there that'll also serve your purpose.

Nikon D7200 Review

Even though the D7200 doesn't disappoint, it's tempered our love affair with the D7000-series.

Excellent stills; Latest Nikon image processor; Very good ISO performance; Extensive customization; Wi-Fi; NFC

Big; bulky; No tilting touchscreen; Video frame rate only 30p; Difficulty grabbing focus for low-light video

Nikon D7200 Review

For the budget shooter who needs professional image quality and performance, there's nothing better than the Nikon D7200. It certainly has its weaknesses, but it's likely the best APS-C camera available.

Excellent color depth and dynamic range create accurate and detailed photographs

Because of its small sensor; the D7200 suffers in low light

Nikon D7200 review: D7200 keeps up the good work

The Nikon D7200 makes the 2-year-old D7100 look like a terrific deal. With only minor improvements over its predecessor, the D7200 remains a great camera, but given the D7100's lower price, the D7200 is a tough sell unless you're a night owl or long burst shooter. Once the D7100 evaporates from the market -- or the price stops dropping and starts rising -- then the D7200 will seem more compelling. It's the same pattern the D7100 faced over the D7000 before it.

The Nikon D7200 is a great camera for the money, as long as you don't care about an extensive feature set.

Great photo quality; solid performance and a sturdy body are the Nikon D7200's highlights.

Subpar wireless implementation and a fixed LCD display.

Amazing

Fantastic performance on a recent trip to NYC. Fantastic colors, speed and focus. Upgraded from another Nikon DSLR had for 13 years. High ISO helped me in areas where I couldn't use a flash. Files are extremely large allowing 20x24 and larger prints.

Nikon D7200

A reliable and tough outdoors camera that nails the essentials to offer real enthusiast appeal.

Weatherproof; Good image quality; Fast; advanced AF

Lacks Nikon's recent ergonomic improvements; Non-tilting screen

Nikon D7200

It's been a couple of years since the Nikon D7100 wowed us with its image quality and performance. Its successor, the D7200 ($1,199.95, body only), offers modest upgrades, including a larger shooting buffer and built-in Wi-Fi, but despite these improvements, we're not rating it quite as high as the...

51-point autofocus system; Dual SD card slots; Pentaprism viewfinder; Excellent control scheme; 1.3x crop mode available; Quick to turn on; Optional battery grip available; Crisp rear LCD; Sensor design omits optical low-pass filter; Very strong high ISO image quality.

6fps burst rate is slowest in class; Tops out at 5fps with limited buffer when shooting in Raw; Omits PC sync socket

I use my D7200 every day as a working tool and it is a very solid camera, image quality (I only shoot JPEG) is excellent, metering is predictable and reliable and out of camera JPEGS look great, it may not have all the bells and whistles of my Sony SLT A68 but it does the job day in day out.

A good upgrade

Have upgraded to the Nikon D7200 from a Nikon D50. The D7200 is proving to be a lot more complex than the D50 with many more menu options. The quality of the photos is outstanding.

Build quality; Battery life; Screen size
