Nikon D7200

Nikon appears to be releasing D7*** cameras on a roughly 18 month rota with the latest model, the D7200, announced in March this year. It's a very modest update with a body that is virtually identical to the D7100, along with the same viewfinder and monitor.

Nikon D7200

It's been a couple of years since the Nikon D7100 wowed us with its image quality and performance. Its successor, the D7200 ($1,199.95, body only), offers modest upgrades, including a larger shooting buffer and built-in Wi-Fi, but despite these improvements, we're not rating it quite as high as the...

51-point autofocus system; Dual SD card slots; Pentaprism viewfinder; Excellent control scheme; 1.3x crop mode available; Quick to turn on; Optional battery grip available; Crisp rear LCD; Sensor design omits optical low-pass filter; Very strong high ISO image quality.

6fps burst rate is slowest in class; Tops out at 5fps with limited buffer when shooting in Raw; Omits PC sync socket

Nikon D7200

The D7200 is the new Nikon APS-C flagship. It combines a refined 24 MP sensor with class-leading native ISO range and fast processor to deliver great image-quality and speedy performance. This is a sturdy professional DSLR with efficient controls for both stills and video.

Superb control over image nose; Good color-accuracy after tweaking; Stellar dynamic range; Ultra-sensitive AF; Nearly instant black-out; Exceptionally fast and responsive; Manual focus assist direction indicator; Excellent build quality

Frequent and severe over-exposure; AWB not perfect under artificial light; Bizarre Auto ISO; Indistinct ISO button; Very poor live-view; Noise-Reduction forced at ISO 800; Lens correction slow down camera; Level difficult to see

The Nikon D7200 has a very familiar feel that most Nikon users will notice right away, but also includes a great feature that is fairly new to Nikon's dSLRs; WiFi. Built-in WiFi with NFC gives the camera an entirely new possibility of portability and sharing, allowing you to share your images via a...

Overall excellent image quality; Solid; comfortable build; OVF shows a full 100% of image area; High Res LCD is great for Live View shooting and viewing your images; A slew of custom shooting menus; Full 1080p HD Video capture; A lens for every shooting situation with the NIKKOR collection; WiFi and...

Video recording mode takes time to get used to; No 4K video recording; Burst shooting came up just a little shy of the stated 6fps; Higher price tag for an APS-C sized sensor camera

Camera Review: Nikon D7200

If market data is to be believed, fewer people are buying DSLRs these days. Some have migrated to mirrorless cameras. Others are likely holding onto older bodies, while still more are just as happy taking their snapshots with smartphones and even-so help us-tablets.

Wi-Fi and NFC; similar design to full-frame lineup; excellent battery life; expanded buffer; improved low-light focusing

Fixed display; slow continuous shooting mode; no real-time exposure preview; no focus peaking

Nikon D7200 DSLR Review: Excellent All Around

A full feature-set and solid performance - from autofocus to continuous shooting - are only some of the D7200's strong points. This DSLR also delivers excellent color rendition, sharpness and exposure, particularly at lower ISOs.

High image quality; relatively fast continuous shooting; well-suppressed noise at high ISO; weather-sealed body; dual command dials

Limited manual exposure control for video capture; shallow handgrip; LCD doesn't tilt or rotate

Nikon D7200 Review

Nikon's D7200 is a dynamite machine and a pleasure to shoot. It's nimble, responsive and has good ergonomics. The D7200 sensor is a terrific performer. If DX sensors get much better could FX and those heavy FX lenses be in danger?

Wow what a camera

I tried ordering from newegg after they called me at home. We placed the order and then it was cancelled because they couldn't verify the card. Funny thing is I called the card company and they said they showed the charge pending.

Considering the size it is fairly light; Pic quality is great compared to my last DSLR and I thought it was pretty hot; This camera was over 1k less expensive and 4X the pixels

I haven't found any yet

Great camera - good combo. Crutchfield people are great.

I have had this camera for about 2 months now and can say only one bad thing about so far and it is really to be expected with a telephoto lens - it is on the heavy side. Fantastic camera. Comfortable to use except it is heavy because of the long lens.

Great camera and lens package at good price; Easy to use and allows you to take a lot different shots without changing and carting around extra lenses

The telephoto lens combo just makes the camera front heavy and a little uncomfortable to carry around
