great for beginners looking to upgrade!

I'm a fairly new photographer (hobbyist but hoping to get more serious about it) and wanted to upgrade from the little D3200 I learned on. I'm very happy about going with this model. It's definitely a step up, but if you know what you're doing, it takes no time at all to get used to the D7000.

Excellent entry level DSLR

I use this camera mostly for landscape and wildlife
photography. It has great battery life, even in cold weather.
It is a bit heavy, but that certainly is not a deal breaker.

Easy To Use; Fast / Accurate Auto-Focus; Fast Shutter Speed; Good Image Quality; Good Image Stabilization; High ISO Performance; Quiet

The Nikon D7000 had a design flaw. It frequently had oil splatter that was visible starting at F/5.6 and came back about 2,000 photos taken after a thorough sensor cleaning. It's performance was okay given its age, but the oil platter became very distracting.

Well built camera

Really fun camera.

Amazing features and performance for this class of camera; Bought this from Newegg and have owned my D7K for just under 1 year; Dual card slots, aux LCD on top, reasonable low ISO performance, advanced AF, very long battery life, and just too many other things to list

Accessories are still expensive; Over the last couple of months dark spots have developed on the image sensor that are not easily cleanable; Pictures shot at F11 or smaller aperature show these spots

WOW - NIKON D7000!

I've been a NIKON user since the "days of Tri-X and Dektol" (most users will have absolutely no idea what I am talking about) - however - the D7000 "puts my Nikon Collection of camera bodies and lenses to shame! A fabulous product! [...

Nikon D7000 review by andre_

the D7000 works perfectly, both as a backup for my D700 and alone with the long tele lenses. The viewfinder is virtually the same as the D2x, so it's the best possible for a DX camera. The dials are very well disposed, and the new controls for the AF mode works well too.

viewfinder; sensor; features; command dials and controls

AF with wide lenses; AF points disposition

I am very satisfied with my D7000

Actually the D7000 incorporates all the details he had noticed that he was missing my D90. I am very satisfied with the purchase and also to have renewed my camera, to achieve more and more beautiful photos.
