Nikon D600 review

The D800's little bro packs most of the same awesomeness, but with a more manageable number of megapixels and a more palatable price. On paper there's a ton of power per pound, with that 24.3MP full-frame sensor, a built-in flash, dual SD card slots, 39-point autofocus, 5.5fps continuous shooting...

Nikon D600 Review: Full Frame, Full Features, Smaller Size

Nikon was the first out of the gate with a mid-priced full-frame camera - the 24 megapixel D600. Targeting advanced amateurs, enthusiasts and pros who want a smaller, lighter second or third camera body, the D600 brings with it a good mix of features and a price tag that won't break the bank.
Pros:
  • Excellent image quality
  • Full feature set
  • Dual SD card slots
  • Good performance
  • especially given its 24 megapixel sensor
  • Trickle down features from the D800
  • e.g.
Cons:
  • Slow AF in Live View
  • Smaller AF coverage (compared to D800
  • Dual SD card slots vs.

Dust/Oil Spots again.

I have already sent the camera in once since Jan. to have the sensor cleaned and it resolved the issue. So I thought. After only 1500 photographs after the cleaning, the dust/oil spots are there again. I am dissatisfied even though the camera takes great photos.

This Camera Makes It Great.

This Nikon DSLR D600 SLR Camera is a great camera to be owned. It has good image quality. The lcd is of 3.2 inches, the resolution is also great. The zooming is also good. It is 24.3 megapixels. The FX-format CMOS is not worth it.

The USP of this camera is definitely its full frame shooting capability in a compact and small body. It lies somewhere between the D800 and D7000 from Nikon offering you the best of both the worlds at a very competitive pricing.

Nikon D600

In late 2012, Nikon announced its latest full frame HD SLR, the Nikon D600 . A 24.3-megapixel FX-format CMOS sensor is paired with a EXPEED 3 image processor that makes the D600 ready to shoot in 0.13 seconds.

I've owned and shot Nikon's D100, D200, D300, D700, and the D4 (my current work camera) as well as numerous point and shoots and even a mirrorless 4/3rds camera over the last 10 years, so yes, I am biased towards full frame sensors.
Pros:
  • Excellent image quality and high ISO performance
  • Very wide ISO range
  • Excellent video quality
  • Light-weight, robust body, weather sealing, lower profile than D800 or D4
  • Generic scene modes, and programmable U1 and U2 settings
  • Ittl control for on camera and off-camera Nikon speedlights.
Cons:
  • No aperture control in video/live view
  • new zoom in/out button position makes them feel like they're reversed compared to the D4
  • 39 point vs 51 point af sensor
  • max 1/4000th shutter speed
  • no 10-pin remote terminal but MCDC2 port provides same function with different cable
  • and dust issues early on

D600 Review

Nikon D600 Review The D7000 goes FX Add a comment or send Thom feedback on this article. The surprise in Nikon's 2012 FX onslaught was the D600, announced just prior to Photokina and only about six months after the D4/D800/D800E.
Pros:
  • Consumer DX user upgrading to FX : get the D600
  • It's what you're used to, on steroids
  • Sure, 36mp sounds like bragging rights, but short of being really good at handling your camera during photography and having great lenses, you're not going to see much bump from what you would see with the D600.

Love the full frame capability of this camera. You get what you see. I have found that it is 100% frame coverage in every shot I have taken. No more crop factor as long as you are not using DX lenses. Impressed with the noise levels at high ISO. 6400 is just as clean as ISO 800 on this camera.
