D500 Everything I expected

Since the early 1980s I was a Canon person. I used a Canon New F1 as my primary wildlife camera(film) with a 400 mm Canon prime lens. As digital photography started to explode at the turn of the century (early2000s) I tried to keep up by investing in superZoom all-in -one cameras also Canons.

Bad and Missing features

No fast recall modes for different camera setting; the D500 still uses Nikon's awful settings banks that take too long to select and don't recall all we need, like AF settings, anyway. The D7200, D610 and D750 are much better.

Excellent camera.

A great Fathers day deal bundle, I snapped on my 200-500mm f/5.6 and went to looking birds of prey In the everglades. I mow use the D500 for more than just wildlife, I've been photographing the local triathlons In my state/Florida and other sporting events Involving my children.

Excellent Wildlife Photography

This camera is fantastic for bird photography, which is what I do primarily. I am also able to use it to photograph families and landscapes as well, but the camera definitely is built for capturing animals on the move. Love it!

What a camera!!!

Awesome camera. The ‘keeper' rate with 10 frames per second makes choosing which of the pin sharp and perfectly exposed shots to keep very difficult; what a dilemma!!!

The beast of DX format

I purchased this one to replace my already working D3400. I chose to stay in the Crop sensor cameras since I like the reach of the FX lenses on crop bodies. The D500 is absolutely perfect for my needs and its a huge leap ahead from the D3400; I shoot portraits and street photography with a lot of...

D500 - is it worth it

Well, even though I think it's overpriced ( that's Nikon Aus for you) I think it is worth the money if you take a lot of sport or wildlife shots. Though I haven't had it long, I can say I'm very impressed images made with the 200-500mm F5.6 attached. Even small crops seem very sharp.

Great for an all-rounder, reach and travel. Accurate focus, high ISO range and lens adjustment feature has made my old Nikon AF-S 18-200G ED usable. My standard Sigma 17-50 f2.8 is now ultra sharp. Previous D200 and D7000 were ok with the Sigma but often soft with the 18-200.

At last the Camera that we have been waiting for

Took it out yesterday, straight out of the box and I was immediately impressed by the speed and ease with which it locked focus on my running, chasing lurchers and some birds buffeted by the winds. This, combined with excellent fps speed is great for my work.

Amazing Autofocus; Easy To Use; Good Fps; Great Image Quality
