Good solid WiFi. With the main AP and the 2 satellites I get great coverage inside and in the garden. I use it in AP mode so can't comment on the router functionality, it seems a little limited.
NETGEAR kicked off the spate of mesh networking systems we have seen over the last couple of years with the Orbi RBK50 . Since then, many more alternatives have passed through our test benches, many of which we covered in our Ultimate Mesh WiFi Router Shootout .
Great 802.11n coverage; Decent 802.11ac coverage; Disney Circle parental controls; Decent range of features in Web management interface; Smartphone configuration app; Reasonable price for three-unit setup
802.11ac performance disappointing in close proximity; Only two Gigabit Ethernet ports; No USB ports for printer or storage sharing
I purchased the Netgear Orbi AC2200 to boost the wifi signal throughout a split level home. The Orbi has succeeded in providing a much stronger signal throughout the whole house and the 2 Ethernet ports on each of the router satellites has facilitated wired connection to an old computer with no wifi...
If you are lucky (or unlucky, as the case may be) to live in a new build home, the woes of getting Wi-Fi to every corner of the house may not be one...
Easy installation and setup; Well designed app; Very fast speeds; Rock solid connection; Single Wi-Fi network; Dedicated wireless backhaul
Not the cheapest; Only two Gigabit Ethernet ports per satellite
Great product, works flawless in every room. Would recommend to everyone
This product has been a revelation in our household where WiFi drop-outs and buffering were a constant problem previously. Since installing Orbi (which was very easy/user friendly) we've not had a single drop out on any WiFi connected devices, even in the weakest of locations. Highly recommended.
1. Great WIFI coverage and link speed due to dedicated backhaul band. The intranet speed can easily go up to 890 mbps. 2. Support AP mode. So that I can connect it to the old router without reconfiguring all the things. 3. VLAN id supported.
Please believe the reviews before you buy. I am a tech teacher and very comfortable with setting up networks. I read the reviews but never had problems with Netgear products and took my chances. I set up the Orbi, hard wire connected to my Macbook and ran all available updates.
The Netgear Orbi AC2200 RBK23 home networking kit is a great choice if you liked the look of the original Netgear Orbi but were put off by the high price and features you'd never use.
Nice design; Easy to set up; Very good performance; Lower price than original
Still pricey; Fewer Ethernet ports; Simplistic documentation
