Maybe coincidence - but the unit I got wouldn't play nice with my PVR and my MAG254 iPtv died the moment I put it in. Since the NetGear come so highly rated - must be something with my unit.

Be careful: Power adapters concerns are VERY valid
I purchased 5 of these units. Out of the box, 4 worked and 1 appeared to work but had a faulty power adapter. The power light was on for the unit but no traffic was coming through the switch.

Had It When We Needed It
Our data processing system went down immediately when our switch failed. I thought we were going to have a replacement shipped to us overnight, but Office Max had the item in stock. This allowed us to continue operating, and our down time was only a couple of hours instead of 24 hours.
Pros:
- Easy to Use
- value

Spews RF Interference - Earth the chassis!
I have two of these and whilst the networking performance is superb, they interfere massively with my ADSL broadband. Simply putting this switch within about 1 foot of the router causes the sync speed to drop from 9.5Mbit to 4Mbit.

Works as expected
In the last year or so I've purchased other Netgear products and I've been satisfied with them. I see no reason to go with another vendor while they, in my experience, have provided me with good products and good customer support.
Pros:
- Easily Expanded
- Easy To Set Up
- Fast
- Reliable
- Small

This is my second Netgear prosafe 16 port switch. I bought this to connect my nas server with LAG support. Works very well and file transfers are very fast. Low power consumption and a fanless design make this a good addition to a home or business gigabit network.
Pros:
- Small form factor
- Very fast
- Supports LAG and VLAN
- Green power
Cons:
- No rack ears

Fixes the problem and stays fixed
These switches have proved solid for me over the years. I was happy that Staples had one in stock, so I could get the network back up quickly and not have to worry about it going back down.

We ended up replacing a computer thinking it wasn't working when in fact it was the port on our switch that was bad. I did loop tests and determined that only 3-4 of the 16 ports were working. Created a ticket on Netgear's website, got an email that I would be contacted.

NETGEAR ProSAFE GS116Ev2 16-Port Gigabit Web Managed Switch
Great piece of tech, performs well, fast and has VLAN support (yay)! The UI isn't amazing but it gets the job done.
