Netgear Arlo Pro 2 review

With the massive growth of the Internet of Things (IoT), sales of devices to secure the home have become increasingly popular. Companies like Google-owned Nest and now Amazon-owned Blink are battling it out to produce smaller and easier-to-use cameras that can be placed around your property without...

Strong magnetic mounts for waterproof cameras; Web interface offers high levels of control; Free cloud recordings for up to 7 days; Built-in siren

Base station difficult to set up with some routers; Cameras need to be charged using lead and plug provided; Quite an expensive set up compared to other brands

It wasn't quite twelve months ago that Ausdroid first took a look at Arlo, the wire-free security cameras from Netgear. Phil reviewed the first generation product in June , and found the overall experience easy and simple to set up.

Arlo pro 2

I have had this arlo pro 2 for a little while now and I give it 4 stars it's an amazing thing and the best wireless system I have ever used love it the only reason it never got a full 5 stars is because the voice or speaker feature where you can talk to people the other end of the camera is very...

NETGEAR Arlo Pro 2 (review)

I use the term ‘successful' because NETGEAR is a master marketer. They have smick marketing material, lovely point-of-sale, copious positive blogs, and multiple nice websites. You buy because of the brand recognition – not because it is superior to other offerings.

• 1080p video and 720p stills are reasonable quality when you can achieve it

No compelling reason to buy it over other brands; except perhaps the brand

Arlo Pro 2 Home Security Camera System

Very disappointing. I returned the Arlo Pro 2. Here are some of the system negatives. Netgear Arlo tech support - essentially nonexistent. Spent 3 hours waiting (mostly) and talking with support over 2 days. Resulting in zero answers. Expect to be lied to about follow up. DON'T ask for a supervisor.

Great Product

We purchased the Arlo to keep watch on our camper trailer, the bonus is the field of view also picks up our front door and is so sensitive that even the cat sends alerts - even at night. I was worried that passing traffic would set the camera off but this is not the case.

Great camera!

You can't go wrong with 1080! It is very sensitive! Does the work as they claimed!

Arlo Pro 2 review: The best wireless camera still has some drawbacks

It's getting easier to set up your own internet-connected home surveillance system, but that usually still means running cables to power all your fancy HD cameras. Arlo, which recently spun off from Netgear, offers an alternative.

Wireless You can put Arlo cameras anyplace because they don't need to be plugged in; Higher resolution The upgraded 1080p sensor offers more detail than the older 720p version; Battery life You'll get several months of life from a single charge; Plan pricing The free tier of service is totally...

Nighttime video At night, the Arlo Pro 2 video is darker than I'd like; It can be hard to make out details more than a few feet away from the camera, Slow to wake up It takes 7-8 seconds for the camera to wake up and begin streaming live when operating on battery power, Clunky app The Arlo app...

Good camera

It is a very good camera and is a tad bit better than the original Pro but it isn't a huge difference. Nonetheless it is an improvement and I do recommend this system. Very good app too.

Netgear Arlo Pro 2

There's more to Netgear than routers and switches. The California-based outfit may be best known for producing business-grade networking hardware, but it has used that experience to create Arlo, a relatively new name that is well positioned to become a mainstay in the smart home of today and...

Very easy to setup and use; Wireless 1080p cameras; Free seven-day storage plan; Good choice of accessories; Two-way audio

Premium price tag; Some features limited to wired; Reliability remains a question mark
