Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit Review

Without being overly accessible or arcadey, Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit is able to offer a highly enjoyable and thoroughly rewarding car gaming experience. With so many awesome vehicles available to unlock, some great action, great controls, solid balancing between difficulties and the great...

Need For Speed: Hot Pursuit Review

Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit , the latest iteration in Electronic Arts long-running racing franchise, is about as polished and viscerally satisfying a racing game as you're likely to find.

Perfect blend of Need for Speed and Burnout; Gorgeous cars and track settings; Freely jump between cops and racers; Autolog adds great level of competition to multiplayer

Has a bit of an identity crisis; AI racers are frustratingly perfect at times; No free ride cop activities

Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit

The Burnout veterans from Criterion get their turn to give the Need for Speed-series a try, and the result is a wonderful mix of burning rubber and wailing sirens...

Great feeling in the cars; breathtaking tempo; great graphics; tons of stuff to do; good variation

The Autolog needs friends to have a point; the AI and the police modes could have used more work

Need For Speed Hot Pursuit

Despite seeing Gran Turismo 5 finally hit store shelves on November 24 (no, really!), 2010 has not been an incredible year for racing fans. Whether it's a sequel to a critically acclaimed series or a brand new intellectual property, all racing fans want is to feel the adrenalin flow through their...

Hot Pursuit is a Need for Speed game in name only. This blisteringly fast racer has more in common with developer Criterion Games' own Burnout series than it does with any previous Need for Speed offering, despite lacking a number of features that are commonly associated with Burnout games.

Exhilarating races and cop chases; Autolog system makes competing with friends more compelling; Tight controls make it easy to take corners at high speed; Loads of licensed supercars; Great online options

Camera cuts occasionally mess with your driving; No traditional leaderboards

Need for Speed Hot Pursuit review

Over the years the Need for Speed franchise had lost its identity. EA have steered the series to whatever the current trend may be. One year undercover cop, another year serious street racer.

Autolog system is a revelation; In gaming pursuits are brilliant; Looks good.

Replay 'busted' camera can be distracting

Need For Speed Hot Pursuit

Criterion have brought Need For Speed racing back in to pole position, the 'return to roots' racing has been successful. Nothing quite beats the sensation of drifting a Subaru round a wet bend as two Lamborghini police cars chase you.

PS3 Review – Need For Speed: Hot Pursuit

-

+ Fun and Addictive Gameplay that Criterion is known along with stunning graphics; + Online mode is a blast no matter who you play it with

- Lack of customization will turn away some fans

'Need For Speed: Hot Pursuit' (PS3)

fix. The EA property may be have been milked to death in recent years, but given that it's the most successful racing series of all time, the studio aren't about to let it fall by the wayside.

Need For Speed: Hot Pursuit Review

Burnout developer Criterion Games has taken the Need For Speed torch from EA and crafted a modern driving game experience sprinkled with a little bit of nostalgia. The cops are back, NFS:HP returns to the cops versus the racers roots of the franchises early days.
