A brilliant game, but very graphic and gruesome

When I was a kid, we still had the old Sega Mega Drive, and one of the games we used to play a lot was Mortal Kombat. I remember it being the biggest thing at the time, and all me and my friends used to play it all the time.

Mortal Kombat

Whenever the word "reboot" gets heard, most gamers raise an eyebrow wondering if its nothing but marketing banter or the real deal. In the case of Mortal Kombat, it was certainly one of few golden age franchises that needed it the most.

It's MK, it gets 5 stars

Although I am not a fan of non-PC games, this was the next big thing, and the price was good. The game itself; well it is MK why on earth would I rate it less than 5 stars.

OXCGN's Mortal Kombat Review: Kool or Krap?Kombat?

Whilst the movie is still far from being revived and though Kevin Tancharoen's mini web series received less than stellar responses, Mortal Kombat has been brought back to its roots by Netherrealm Studios, the newly formed company under Ed Boon and Warner Bros (WB) replacing Midway.

Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe review

Who would have thought that Mortal Kombat could be revived with a friendly hand from DC Comics?

Similar to the classic 2D Mortal Kombat games of old; Simple, yet fun fighting mechanics; Easy to pick up and play; Solid online component; Colourful art style that blends these two fairly different worlds together.

Fighting mechanics may be too simple for some fans of the genre; Not as many extras as you usually find in an Mortal Kombat game; Fatalities are lame, which for a Mortal Kombat game is a tragedy

Some fool somewhere said that videogames couldn't possibly get any more violent. That's exactly what they said at the beginning of the twentieth century and look where we ended up. Despite the series being as old as I am, Mortal Kombat hasn't yet exhausted its creative saw-tooth, and includes brutal...

XBLA Review - 'Mortal Kombat Arcade Kollection'

For the first time ever, the original Mortal Kombat arcade trilogy - Mortal Kombat, Mortal Kombat 2 and Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 - have been brought together into a single collection.

Mortal Kombat

It's cheesy, vicious and unashamedly graphic, but Mortal Kombat is also a mature and rewarding beat-em up with plenty to offer. As with any good game in the fighting genre, a patient player willing to learn the various special moves will have a distinct advantage over a button-basher.

As fighting games go, Mortal Kombat has always held a distinct place in the history of the genre, shunning the often cartoonlike style of its contemporaries in favor of gore and guts.

One of the most in-depth story modes to grace a fighting game; Revamped control system makes it easy to pick up and play; Huge amount of content to unlock; Challenge Tower minigames and challenges are lots of fun; Viciously brutal moves

Shao Kahn is incredibly cheap; Occasionally laggy online play
