Nobody knows what to make of the Microsoft Surface. It's neat looking, but kind of awkward. Great at certain things and oddly tantalizing, But who's it really for? Ack, fuck it. This latest hybrid iteration, the Surface Pro 4, is a refinement of sorts and sometimes subtle tweaks can go a long way...

Surface Pro 4

Every previous time I've reviewed the Surface Pro, I've concluded with a kind of frustration. Microsoft keeps aiming the Surface Pro at laptops, and for the way I use laptops, it keeps falling short. Why, I have always asked, will they not simply build a real laptop?
Pros:
  • Bigger
  • better screen
  • Fine keyboard and a touchpad you'll actually enjoy using
  • Wide range of configuration options
Cons:
  • It's very short on USB ports
  • With all the options it gets very expensive
  • and you can't freely mix and match the options
  • We still don't know when the biometric authentication will work
  • Type Covers are no longer available in purple

Surface Pro 4 Review

It's probably fair to describe the Surface Pro 4 as an evolutionary update over its predecessor. That's not to say the improvements, collectively, aren't impressive: more of the same, or similar, is no bad thing when you're talking about a tablet that in its several generations has built a loyal...

Microsoft Surface Pro 4: Australian Review

Microsoft's Surface division is under siege. In the four years after the Redmond giant got the idea of making the world's best convertible, it has had the field almost entirely to itself.

The tablet is pre-loaded with the Windows 10 operating system and it is just 8.4mm thick. Despite this slender design it still manages to fit a USB 3.0 port and a Mini Display port so connectivity isn't an issue – although it would have been nice to have a second USB port.

I already liked the Surface Pro 3 enough to have run out and bought one after reviewing it last year. The Surface Pro 4 is a step up, and it's going to be hard going back to using the Surface Pro 3 again.

  • Windows 10 improves the Surface's user experience significantly
  • Type Cover 4 is a huge improvement over the Type Cover 3

The Microsoft Surface Book and Surface Pro 4 Review

That being said, there are still plenty of reasons to love and to buy this new generation of Microsoft Surface devices. From a build quality and design perspective, the Surface Pro 4 continues in the same vein as previous models and, to me, that means a slick and modern design that blends tablet and...

Surface Pro 4 first impressions review: Microsoft says it's a laptop replacement, we doubt

More than three years after debuting the original Surface tablet, Microsoft has finally brought the Surface to India. It was back in June 2012 when the company had introduced its first Surface line of tablets, and since then the company has been introducing its successors every year with the Pro 4...
