MSI Wind U135 Review

In general, MSI netbooks have been the long-distance runners of the category; the U100, the U110, and the U123 all had impressive battery life. With its newest netbook, the Wind U135 ($329), MSI is using the second-generation Atom N450 processor, which was designed to provide up to 20 percent...

Review MSI Wind U135 Netbook

"The best design offers ultimate ease and joy." - is what MSI's Chief Industrial Designer is said to have stated in connection with the Wind U135. Well, we can basically verify the simplicity of handling the netbook, but joy on design is an issue as such.
Pros:
  • Attractive design
  • Very good case stability
  • User-friendly keyboard
  • Very good viewing angle stability
  • Low case temperatures
  • Low price
  • The display
  • apart from the reflective surface.
Cons:
  • Case susceptible for grime
  • Center of gravity too far back
  • Average VGA connection quality
  • Reflective display
  • Perpetual fan presence
  • Speakers' poor sound quality
  • On the one side
  • a matt display for better netbook ergonomics outdoors and on the other
  • a fan control update.

Pros:
  • Good design
  • Capable touchpad with proper drivers
  • Nice keyboard
Cons:
  • Half the battery life of other Pine Trail netbooks
  • Missing touchpad software out of the box

MSI Wind U135 Review - An Intel Pinetrail Netbook

1. The Intel Pinetrail platform doesn't offer any improvements on CPu and 3D performance 2. The Intel Pinetrail platform costs 20~30% more than the previous Atom platform at launch 3. The Special Edition U135 doesn't retain the matt display from the U100. 4.

MSI Wind Millions Special Edition U135 review

The MSI Wind Millions Special Edition U135 is a netbook that looks good and is comfortable to use. It has a balance issue that we've seen in previous Wind netbooks, but we like the U135's build quality, design and features.

We have been fans of MSI 's Wind series of netbooks. They have consistently rivaled Asus' Eee PC range and HP's Mini line, and the competition has been good for the industry. MSI's Wind line has remained relatively consistent over the years, with the design staying mostly the same, but the internals...

MSI Wind U135 review Review

The 10-inch Wind U135 netbook doesn't disappoint. Its next-generation Intel Atom N450 processor doesn't deliver significantly better performance than older Atoms, but it does contribute to this machine's lengthy battery life.
Pros:
  • Comfortable keyboard
  • Long battery life
Cons:
  • Trackpad doesn't support multi-touch gestures
