Lollipop Chainsaw Review

Another zombie-slaying game has been added to the list - previously populated with such popular titles as Left for Dead, Dead Rising and Resident Evil - but this game is different.

Colourful design; Funny dialogue

Short; Hack and slash gameplay is not polished

Lollipop Chainsaw

A whole lot of ideas are crammed into Lollipop Chainsaw 's six-hour-or-so runtime. Its backbone is a pulpy, goofball romance between barely-18 cheerleader heroine Juliet Starling and her wayward, torso-less love interest, Nick.

+ Incredibly clever soundtrack with silly licensed tunes that suit the game's theme perfectly, + Juliet and Co. are fantastically rendered in a cool, comic book–style aesthetic; plenty of collectibles to urge replaying the game

? Anyone else get the feeling that the entire Starling family is kind of dense

Lollipop Chainsaw Review

Juliet isn't having the best birthday. Sure, she's a chirpy, fresh-faced, popular 18-year-old cheerleader with a perfect body and a loving family, but her handsomely chiseled boyfriend has turned into a zombie, and things just aren't looking up.

Some funny jokes and references; Frequent gameplay excursions mix up the pace; Fun boss battles

Too often crude without being clever; Control and camera quirks; Combat lacks depth and finesse

Lollipop Chainsaw – Review (360, PS3)

Let's get the obvious out of the way: Lollipop Chainsaw is a game you're either going to love or despise. If you do end up loving it, there are parts you'll find funny, parts you'll wonder whether or not you're having fun, and some parts where you'll just feel very… uncomfortable.

Lollipop Chainsaw Review

When it comes to making weird ideas blossom into big budget games, few developers out there can boast about it quite like Japanese developer Goichi Suda, AKA Suda51, can. The creator of Shadows of the Damned , No More Heroes , and Killer7 is back with a new game poking fun at Americanized...

Lollipop Chainsaw

That minigame alone can get hectic and usually results in a lot of close calls. Offically, Lollipop Chainsaw is a video gaming marvel that not only succeeds in poking fun at the oversaturated market of zombie games such as Resident Evil and Left 4 Dead, but is also pure unadulterated fun.

Lollipop Chainsaw Review

To be honest what I approached " Lollipop Chainsaw " I really did not know what to expect but what I got was a mostly enjoyable experience. Admittedly the gameplay can be rather repetitive but thanks to the humour and good presentation this stops proceedings from being too dull and as a result what...

Lollipop Chainsaw

"Quick time events, man. I'm so sick of them." – Not2NerdyENT, in a YouTube video walkthrough of Lollipop Chainsaw (http://youtu.be/xWTCoMx-rqk) Lollipop Chainsaw is a difficult game to critique. It's not that the gameplay makes it difficult, it's that it seems unsure about what it wants to be.

Lollipop Chainsaw

Even for a budget title, Lollipop Chainsaw has plenty of shortcomings. Repetitive combat, bland levels and an insistence on sexual humour will leave many players disappointed. That said, it does produce a few moments worthy of your time.
