buyer beware

I have contacted tech support and have the chat transcripts. bottom line: "from Pamela Joy P. (25016) to All Participants: I do apologize. We are aware of the issue and we are still working for the fixed solution.

very fast on 5ghz N-band

horrible software; devices get assigned multiple IP's and some are the same! parental controls are useless since the blocked device changes constantly; I tried rebooting and resetting but problems recur.

Poor Performing Device

The router worked on the first day afterwards we had a ton of connectivity issues, the app was glitchy at best and overall experience was extremely poor. We are hoping to return this product even for a 50% refund.

Major issues, horrible tech support,

I purchased this mostly for the extended range & new features. Range was outstanding, much better than my Dlink DIR-655, and data throughput was very good with my laptop, far exceeding my Dlink. Now the bad news. iPhone & iPad would not connect.

many issues won't work with some devices

Linksys EA4500 review: a poor installation procedure is offset by exceptional 5GHz network performance

The Linksys EA4500 is a wireless router that supports simultaneous dual-band Wi-Fi at speeds up to 450 megabits per second (Mbps) per band. It's a home router that's a little different to most of the other routers we've seen this year; primarily, it has a Web interface that lives happily in the...

Very good speed and range in 5GHz; Can be managed from a phone app

CD setup did not work properly; Sluggish 2.4GHz performance

Cisco Linksys EA4500

Other than gradual speed advancements, there's rarely any radical re-imagining in the world of wireless routers. Despite more and more people relying on that blinking box in the corner, most routers remain tricky for inexperienced users to troubleshoot and maintain.

Cisco Linksys EA4500 review

The Cisco Linksys EA4500 is a development of the company's previous flagship E4200, and this new premium wireless router offers cloud management of the device through Cisco's servers.

Cisco Linksys EA4500

We can see where Cisco was going with Connect Cloud, but it's definitely a first-revision product. The forced removal of settings to the cloud, the privacy debacle with its launch, the potential to have a slow and unresponsive server, a downed internet connection, the potential security risks during...

New Cisco Connect Cloud interface looks nice and controls well; Excellent 5GHz speeds; You can downgrade to the old; "classic" firmware

Router design prevents access by some Ethernet cables; Cisco Connect Cloud means that most features are only accessible if you're online; Wi-Fi-only set-up with Cisco Connect Cloud; Security risks introduced with Cisco Connect Cloud; such as storing Wi-Fi and router password on the desktop and

Cisco Linksys EA4500 review

Outwardly the Cisco Linksys EA4500 is essentially identical to our award-winning Cisco E4200 wireless router . There's the same compact clutch-bag design with metallic centre strap detail and satin-black finish, and just the product name changed below the white light-up Cisco logo.

Cisco Linksys EA4500 App Enabled Dual-Band Wireless Router with Gigabit and USB

The Cisco Linksys EA4500 ($199.99) is the updated version of the Cisco Linksys E4200 . While the hardware inside hasn't changed, the EA4500's software has been updated and designed to work with Cisco's upcoming Cloud Connect router software as well as several apps being developed to extend the...

Features the EA series' excellent Cisco Connect setup software; Dual-band; Very good throughput at both bands; USB for connecting storage and printers

Expensive; Does not offer much performance advantage over similar and lower-priced dual-bands on the market
