I've already covered Cisco's new "App Enabled" router line and reviewed the EA3500 in depth. So this focus of this review of the EA2700 Gigabit Dual-Band Wireless N600 Router is mainly on how it performs. The EA2700 is the least expensive way to buy into Cisco's cloud-connected future.

MAC OS X 10.9 Mavericks not supported after upgrade from previous OS X

1) Wireless router does NOT perform at advertised speeds. 2) Cisco Connect utility worked until I updated to the new Mavericks OS X 10.9 operation system. 3) Now, Cisco Connect utility is not supported and you cannot change primary or guest network password or any of the other utilities for this...

GOOD product for the cost of the BEST product.

The router is quite good and especially looks classy. But since it is priced considerably higher than the similar ones it it classed I was expecting something with blazing fast speeds and robustness head and shoulders above its peers. It failed those expectations.

Stay Away

When they lose connection from the modem, 95% of the time they have to be reset. This happens wil all routers at some point, but this one is everytime.
Pros:
  • Decent Range
Cons:
  • They have the tendency to reset themselves to default settings.

Weak signal strength. Drops connections. Have to constantly restart for it to work. Maybe this is just a bad one because it seems to be getting worse. I am VERY disappointed in this unit.
Pros:
  • Easy to Use
Cons:

Not for me...

I find that this router slows down my internet... when connected directly to my ISP I can get 24mbit down 2.3mbit up... consistantly. As soon as I'm connecting through the router (wirelessly, or wired) my down speed fluctuates between 9mbit and 15mbit. Tried multiple firmware but same thing.

Poor Quality

Absolutely horrible performance. I thought it was my cable modm but I rehooked up my old router and problems were gone. This router has poor range, drops signal, needs allot of reboots, has issues pairing with modem. Less than 1 year old.

DON'T BUY THIS ROUTER !!!

I bought this router thinking you get what you pay for, so you would think I wouldn't get to the conclusion of writing this review. The set up was easy, the router has cool options, good controll panel....

Router

It would have been easier if we had only one computer on the old network to start with. Also, If we would have the default name later it would have been easier to network the other computers and printers. Otherwise it was very easy.
