Lenovo Yoga 9i Review

The Lenovo Yoga 9i is sleek, stylish and sturdy, and comes with a great screen and speakers – but irritating design, mediocre Intel hardware and the underwhelming haptic touchpad all hinder this hybrid.

Impressive design, both visually and ergonomically; Good-quality 4K touchscreen; Punchy, detailed speakers; Decent battery life and keyboard;

Haptic touchpad is disappointing; Intel's hardware is beaten elsewhere; Some irritating design decisions;

Lenovo Yoga 9i 14 Review: An excellent convertible with yesterday’s display

Lenovo’s Yoga 9i 14 — the replacement for the Yoga C940 — is an incredibly innovative convertible 2-in-1 that comes in two distinct flavors distinguished by much more than color. The Shadow Black leather edition incorporates an edge-to-edge glass palm rest, haptic touchpad, and ultrasonic fingerprint reader to go with a leather cover on the lid. The Mica-colored model has a traditional palm rest and touchpad and a simple metal lid. And they cost the same — go figure. The Mica version is a more direct replacement for the Yoga C940 and offers up a more traditional 2-in-1 experience, which raises this question: Should you consider the Mica version without the extra innovations? We tried a nicely configured Mica unit, with a top-of-the-line 11th-gen Intel Tiger Lake Core i7-1185G7 CPU, 16GB of RAM, a 512GB PCIe solid-state drive (SSD), and a Full HD (1,920 x 1,080) IPS display. That configuration is $1,380 at <a href="https://na01.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.bes...

Rock-solid build quality; Competitive productivity performance; Excellent battery life; Superior audio quality; Pen is included and conveniently docks;

Keyboard remains a little shallow; 16:9 display is yesterday's technology; Colors are a little muted and inaccurate;

Lenovo Yoga 9i 15: Maybe the fastest 2-in-1 you can buy

Lenovo recently renamed its Yoga line, changing the Yoga C940 15-inch 2-in-1, for example, to the Yoga 9i. This is purely a marketing move — the Yoga 9i is the same as the C940 with updated components inside. Some other new Yogas are a bit more innovative, such as the Yoga 9i 14-inch with a leather cover, but Lenovo decided to play it safe with its largest and most powerful convertible laptop. I received a $2,000 Yoga 9i review unit equipped with a 10th-generation six-core Intel Core i7-10750H, 16GB of RAM, a 1TB PCIe solid-state drive (SSD), a 15.6-inch Full HD (1920 x 1080) display, and an Nvidia GeForce GTX 1650 Ti Max-Q GPU. The Yoga C940 was already a fast laptop with a mediocre display and poor battery life that held it back from a higher rating. Does the Yoga 9i fix what was ailing the laptop and elevate it to a more competitive offering? Since the upgraded CPU is the primary difference between the Yoga C940 and the Yoga 9i, we’ll start there. And it’s a suitable place to start ...

Excellent performance; Solid build quality; Very good keyboard and touchpad; Outstanding audio performance; Attractive aesthetic;

Battery life suffers from a small battery; Display has poor contrast;
