Lenovo's ThinkPad X1 Carbon Touch: A lightweight contender

The Lenovo Thinkpad X1 Carbon Touch is the rare notebook that does just about everything well, from performance and battery life to its touch abilities and superb display. Its $1,399 price tag is relatively high, but if you want the best, it is worth every penny.

Thin and light; ultra high resolution display; great performance; folds flat on tabletop; good battery life; innovative "adaptive" keyboard

Expensive; touchpad overly sensitive

Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon Touch review

Summary: The ThinkPad X1 Carbon Touch is attractive and solidly built, with an excellent touchscreen and a great keyboard. However, we'd like to see more ports and a removable battery at the very least. As it stands, this ultrabook is too expensive for widespread deployment.

Attractive design; Solid build quality; Superb touchscreen; Excellent keyboard; Fast battery charging; Mobile broadband with wireless hotspot support

Only two USB ports; Non-removable battery; Proprietary power connector; Expensive

Lenovo ThinkPad X1 review

It's not often that we get excited about a laptop aimed primarily at business users, but Lenovo's ThinkPad X1 is an exception; the 13.3in ultra-portable might be less than 2cm thick, but it still squeezes in some clever features and plenty of high performance hardware.

Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Review

The recommended retail price of the X1 is R15,000 – likely to raise a few eyebrows for a device with no optical drive, very limited hardware customisability and a touchpad from hell.

The Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon Review (2015)

The X1 Carbon that Lenovo shipped out for review is likely the fastest Ultrabook yet. The Broadwell Core i7 is certainly a step ahead of the other devices we have tested, and the included PCIe SSD is basically the fastest drive offered today.

Starting at $1,899.00 without an SSD, the top ThinkPad X1 Carbon carries with it a decent price jump from its $1,329.00 entry level variant. With a faster CPU, higher resolution screen offering touch capabilities and more RAM, it comes as little surprise.

Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon – the first true business Ultrabook is here

The ThinkPad X1 Carbon is coming very soon, and the base model will cost $1399 – I did say it was an expensive machine, right If you want better specs, you'll have to pay $1499 and up to $1849 depending on the configuration.
