Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon 20FB-005XUS Notebook Review

With strong alternatives available like the MacBook Air or XPS 13, the pressure has been hard on Lenovo to keep the ThinkPad X1 Carbon series going strong. The latest model feels better than ever as detailed in our previous review of the unit and its WWAN options will be sure to attract a lot of...

no CPU or GPU throttling on battery power, excellent keyboard and touchpad, slim design; strong chassis, respectable battery life, easy serviceability, brighter backlight, WWAN support, quiet fans, no PWM

Unable to maintain maximum rated TUrbo Boost speeds; Narrower color gamut than the WQHD SKU; hinges could be more taut; fingerprint magnet; no USB Type-C; slow charging; soldered RAM; pricey

Lenovo pares another few grams and millimeters from its lustworthy ThinkPad X1 Carbon, turning the executive status symbol into the best 14-inch business notebook, period.

Remarkably thin and light yet sturdy; Splendid keyboard; Crisp 1080p display; Security and manageability features for IT departments

No USB-C or Ethernet port; No touch screen; MicroSD instead of standard SD card slot

People who say "third time's the charm" haven't seen the 4th generation Lenovo ThinkPad Carbon X1. Lenovo hasn't reinvented the wheel with its newest 14-inch business class laptop, but they've made one smooth ride.

Gorgeous QHD display; Market-leading keyboard; Lightning quick SSD

Lack of Ethernet and SD Card slot; Mediocre endurance

Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon (2016) Review: Flawless Execution

With every evolution of the notebook PC, our expectations get a bit higher. We're years into the Ultrabook craze and not a single company has managed to create the perfect one. Doing so is difficult. Users need thin profiles, great battery life and decent internals. The $1,269

Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon (2016)

Last year's version of the Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon was a fully-capable business Ultrabook that featured a few minor flaws. Unfortunately for Lenovo, these issues kept the Carbon from reaching the pinnacle of the business laptop market.

11-hour battery life claim; 16GB of RAM; WQHD screen

Pricey; Marginal upgrade to 2015; No touchscreen

Lovely light laptop

I use this as my work laptop, using Windows 10. This is a very nice laptop. It is relatively light and small enough to carry around. It has 3 USB ports, one HDMI and a mini HDMI slot. Mines is configured to enable me to use 2 monitors at the same time in addition to the laptop screen.

Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon (2016) Review

For Lenovo, the fourth time's the charm. The 4th-generation ThinkPad X1 Carbon gets the business ultrabook formula right with a keyboard, screen and battery life that live up to their promise, wrapped up in a durable, 2.6-pound package.

Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon review (2017)

The Lenovo ThinkPad Carbon X1 is a fantastic laptop with an up-to-date design, and one that doesn’t go for any of the feature-chopping you see in many alternatives without the same business leanings. Battery life is excellent, as is build quality and the keyboard, plus the X1 is as light as slim as promised. The only issues are to do with the screen, but many will be able to live with it. There’s also a question of price. ThinkPad X1 Carbon laptops have always been expensive, and so is this one: more than Dell's XPS 13 but hundreds less than model with an OLED touch bar.
