Lenovo ThinkPad T470s (7300U, FHD) Laptop Review

With a featherweight build that's equal parts portable and durable (thanks to high-end magnesium and carbon fiber hybrid construction), terrific battery life, and excellent input devices for which the ThinkPad brand has long been known, the Lenovo ThinkPad T470s FHD already ought to have the...

expensive; attractive construction; lightweight for its class; terrific battery life; excellent input devices; fast SSD and application performance; stable CPU performance; good connectivity

unfortunate PWM used in screen dimming; weak brightness; muted color saturation; weak CPU performance while operating unplugged; quickly heats up under load; temperatures unevenly distributed across casing

Lenovo ThinkPad T470S review: Great battery, nice screen, good performance

If you've followed us over the past few years you know we've reviewed a lot of Lenovo products. For the most part, we've really enjoyed what we've reviewed and the Lenovo ThinkPad T470S is no different. The ThinkPad series is Lenovo's business focused line and they're built tough.

Clean look nice design; Good build quality; Great matte finish screen; Fingerprint reader; Good I/O; Lightweight and portable

Weak speakers; Weak camera; Pre-installed software

Lenovo has carved out quite a business for itself in the laptop space over the years, led more recently by premium machines like the Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon . However, there are obviously many more models in the ThinkPad family of products, beyond just the top-shelf X1 Carbon line.

Excellent; compact premium design; Great build quality and materials; Excellent performance; Light weight; Great battery life

Premium price point; Middling display brightness; Uninspiring audio

The Lenovo ThinkPad T470s is a refresh of the outgoing ThinkPad T460s. The T-series is Lenovo's top-of-the-line business notebook, and has been more or less the gold standard in the industry for many years now.

Competitively priced; Excellent keyboard and touch pad/pointing stick; Supports snap-in docking solutions; Good IPS screen

Chassis could feel more solid; Slightly larger than previous generation model

QA Issues

Great form factor, nice machine but bad QA. I bought three of these models and had to return them all due to hardware problems. These were all built in March 2017 but purchased in December 2017. Issues: First unit had a vertical line running down the screen in all modes, ie in bios and in windows.

Lenovo ThinkPad T470s

The ThinkPad T470s doesn't bring any real innovation to the field, but rather, incrementally improves on a proven concept with some smart updates. It has a current-generation processor, the latest ports, a travel-friendly design, and new security features like biometric sign in.

Light and portable design; Touch screen; Myriad port and connectivity options; Comfortable keyboard; Long battery life

Feature set and performance don't stand out among similarly priced competitors; Lacks removable battery
