Lenovo ThinkPad L390 (i5-8265U, FHD) Laptop Review

The Lenovo ThinkPad L390 is a straightforward update of the previous ThinkPad L380 . While the newer model packs a new platform on the inside, the outside remains completely unchanged.

very comfortable input devices, mostly quiet, better CPU performance than the predecessor, a good port selection, robust chassis, good RAM upgradeability (max; 64 GB, affordable pricing

bad color-gamut coverage; fewer business features than other ThinkPads; worse battery life than predecessor; load temperatures over 50 °C; only one year of warranty; no Thunderbolt 3

Lenovo ThinkPad L390 Yoga

The only significant drawback for this 13.3-inch ThinkPad convertible is its chunky chassis, which is sized closer to what we'd expect from a 14-incher, and a hefty one at that. The ThinkPad X390 Yoga and the HP EliteBook x360 1040 G5 come to mind as more portable choices with equivalent (or better)...

Bright display; Includes active stylus pen, which fits in chassis; Reasonably priced; Excellent keyboard; Built-in security features

Thick and heavy for a 13.3-incher; Fingerprint reader not orderable with "world-facing" camera

Lenovo ThinkPad L390 Yoga : Business Basics

Buying a fleet of laptops for a business isn't cheap. But Lenovo's L-series of ThinkPads, which isn't as fancy as its T or X1-series, cuts some costs. The ThinkPad L390 Yoga ($971.10 / £753.20 as tested; $809.10 / £599.99 to start) is a convertible business notebook with enough ports for business...

USB Type-C charging; Little bloatware; Plenty of ports; Comfy keyboard

Mixed performance; Dimmer-than-average display

Lenovo ThinkPad L390 Yoga review: Great features at a lower price point

The Lenovo ThinkPad L390 Yoga isn't the best laptop in the world, but you're also not paying best in the world prices for it. And the price is what I love about it. As I mentioned in the introduction, the ThinkPad X1 Yoga is one of my favorite convertibles.

Lenovo ThinkPad L390 Yoga review: A chunky convertible business laptop that almost has it all

While the Lenovo ThinkPad L390 Yoga isn't most attractive laptop you can get, it compensates for its lack of style with a killer keyboard, a satisfying trackpad, and lots of ways to connect with external devices.

Lenovo ThinkPad L390 review: New PCIe SSD and Intel Whiskey Lake CPU, same average display

Last year we reviewed Lenovo's ThinkPad L380 and appreciated the affordable price that nevertheless delivered a durable chassis, upgradeable hardware, great keyboard, generous port selection, and all-day battery life.

Fast M.2 PCIe SSD options; Outstanding keyboard; All-day battery life; Upgradeable RAM and SSD; Intel Whiskey Lake CPU options

Thick bezel; Display could be brighter and more colorful

Lenovo ThinkPad L390 Yoga review: A chunky convertible business laptop that almost has it all

Lenovo's ThinkPad L390 Yoga makes up for its dim display and bulky build with a superb keyboard and trackpad.

Luxurious keyboard and a trackpad you'll actually want to click; Lots of ports; including USB-C for charging (at last; Built-in stylus is nice to have

Display brightness is just barely adequate for well-lit rooms; Thicker and heavier than most thin-and-light laptops; Subpar battery life

Awesome Laptop

I bought this a few weeks ago after having a different laptop for several years. This one is sturdy and durable yet relatively lightweight and it is very easy to use. Set up was quick and the system runs very well. Love the feel of the keyboard and touch pad. Definitely happy with this purchase!
