If you're already a fan of Chromebooks, the eminently portable Ideapad 100S should be on your short list. (And if you're new to the concept, the price and keyboard may make you a fan.)

Ultra-low price; Thin and light; Very good keyboard for the price; Excellent battery life

Below-average performance; Small-ish screen needs more "pop; Keyboard needs a backlight

nice

Although it has only 32GB of eMMC flash storage, it is expandable to (did they release the 1tb micro sd card) atleast 256gb of storage. This is plenty of room for a high school student as a school laptop. Its small, lightweight, and includes a 1 year office 365 license.

Review: Lenovo IdeaPad 100S Laptop

T he Lenovo IdeaPad 100S is the cheapest laptop in its range, but at first glance, it doesn't look like a budget machine.

Lenovo Ideapad 100S Notebook Review

The IdeaPad 100S targets a specific group of users who want a very small and very light notebook for simple tasks when traveling. Users who view detachables and convertibles as a sort of gimmick can fall back to this standard netbook with no such novelty features attached.

long battery life; small and very lightweight; fanless design; HDMI-out; inexpensive; good build quality; easy maintenance

very cool color temperature without calibration; no WWAN; GPS; 802.11ac; USB 3.0; touchscreen; or IPS options; no other CPU; RAM; or resolution options; touchpad does not support multi-touch; backlight could be brighter; poor contrast; throttling under high loads

Lenovo 100s Chromebook Review

The Lenovo 100s Chromebook is an 11.6-inch laptop targeted towards users on the go. While the 100s doesn't have the performance to replace your desktop, it can handle your web browsing and basic computing needs.

Low price; Solid build; Great keyboard and trackpad

Poor speakers; Limiting Google Chrome OS; Wobbly screen

The 100s is a solid Chromebook that has its flaws but many of them are common on budget devices. The build quality feels mostly solid despite the light weight. The 11.6-inch display with mediocre 1366 x 768 resolution is a bit too thin and flimsy with an overly wide bezel, but colors are reasonably...

Lenovo IdeaPad 100S Chromebook

The Lenovo 100S Chromebook is the quintessential Chromebook. It's cheap and a bit bland-looking, powered by a budget Intel processor and packing a meager, low-resolution screen. That's not so bad.

The inexpensive Lenovo 100S Chromebook has a comfortable keyboard; battery life that'll last a workday; and just enough performance to get rudimentary tasks done

Google's Chrome OS operating system is limited when compared to identically priced competitors that run Windows 10

Lenovo IdeaPad 100S review

Netbooks debuted less than a decade ago, and quickly earned a reputation for being underwhelming. Even though these machines were inexpensive, they were also incapable of many computing tasks other than basic word processing, web surfing and occasional YouTube watching.

Solid and thin design; Good keyboard; Battery life

Limited storage; Narrow screen viewing angle; No trackpad gestures

Lenovo IdeaPad 100s 11.6-Inch Laptop Review

The Lenovo IdeaPad 100s is an affordable 11-inch laptop, which is travel-friendly and offers more than nine hours of battery life. You're safe if you don't expect speedy performance or a touchscreen. THE GOOD: Portable and good looking. Good for those on a budget. THE BAD: No USB 3.0 ports.

Lenovo Ideapad 100S Chromebook Review

Lenovo's entry-level IdeaPad 100S Chromebook is simply too cheap for its own good.

Decent keyboard; Good battery life

Only 2GB of RAM; Slow processor; Weak design; Short warranty
